Stepfather's 85th Birthday Party, AWESOME Time

Yesterday we celebrated my stepfather's 85th birthday at his grandson's aviation hanger for his crop-dusting business.  Fish, chicken and other fried sides were being cooked when we got to our destination. I brought pulled pork, pork burnt ends and spare ribs. The pork burnt ends were a hit I should of made more of that then pulled pork.  We had around 85 people we think show up.  There was a lot of great food and it was great to see family. The hanger was huge and very ckean, check out the fan.  The highlight was plane rides in a Ceasna 180 and a Skywagon.  I went up with my 5 year old nephew helping the pilot fly, got a little scary when he pulled back on the control's and the pilot said don't do that or he will stall the plane.  He also wanted to help land, but the pilot aid he would do it.  My son would only go up my wife on his first ride.  The second time he said they really went up high. The third and last time they aren't low and was buzzing the farm.  Pretty exciting for a 7 year old and everyone else.  My brother flew where a free years old nephew was flaying and doing a good job.

Above the little guy just finely gave in to a nap after a ride on a 4 wheeler from his uncle.  Below are photos of where's piolts can sleep and eat while they stay over.   Very cool.

Very cool man.  The food looks great and what an awesome location for a party.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Drive back up to the farm.  It's about 2 hours from our house.  It is a party that no one is going to forget for a long time.  My stepfather had a great time to as well as my mom.  My stepfather said when ever we want to come up let him know and see if it is possible to take a plane ride again.  I hadn't been up in a plane that small since I was about 10 or 11.  I had a sister in law that was afraid of getting on a large commercial plane that went up for a ride and liked it.  We all said that a large plane is even smother then the small ones.  She may now want to travel by air somewhere sometime.

Nobody in my family ever needs to know about this.  The bar is too high.

    Well done.

It seemed fine to me and my wife who is short didn't have much trouble getting into one of the tractor seats.  She said they were comfortable and that is coming from a city girl.

Those are silicone ties that are heat resistant and dishwasher safe.  They were boneless pork butts and I was trying to hold together where the bone was removed.  I use them a lot on stuffed pork loins and other things that need held together while cooking.

Very awesome ... very neat family experience.  I'm especially jealous of the Skywagon rides ... snagged a ride once when the crop duster was was working ... definitely was a memorable ride.
