I really don't understand why folks hate Newton that much.  I'm not saying it's racial or anything else - I just don't get it.
I don't hate Cam, just don't like his antics. I like the guys that show up play the game and respect the game. It's not just Cam (a great player and deserved of the MVP). I'm just old school. I'm not a big fan of JJ watt's antics either!  Get a sack in the 1st qtr or make a first down when you are behind by 30 and then do a dance and act an idiot, I don't get it.  Score the winning touchdown or intercept a ball in final minutes of a game, celebrate all you want!! But to do it just so everyone looks at you is a little too narcissistic for me.

I played high school football with a guy like that! We were losing 52-0 with couple minutes left in game, he recovered a fumble and went apes$$t , embarrassed us more than we already were lol!

Didn't he refer to Manning as "the sheriff" ? Sounds like respect to me.
    John.

    Here's a snippet from the article   http://www.sbnation.com/2016/1/25/10823394/mmbm-manning-newton-sheriff-peyton-cam-taek

Cam Newton got pulled aside for a quick Q&A for the viewers at home. Fox Sports' made the call to let Chris Myers handle the intervew since Erin Andrews is likely still traumatized from Richard Shermans outburst two years ago, and he sopke with Newton about the upcoming Superbowl matchup. Cam claimed to not know who the Panthers would be playing, and Myers informed him they'd be taking on Peyton Manning and the Denver Brocnos.

Cams reaction? A sneer, and then a declaration of war on his next target-, "Oh the Sheriff? Wow."

Calling Manning "The Sherrif" on national TV in a not-so-subtle way of reminding people that a large section of America still views law enforcment as the enemy. Its precisely this type of coded language that makes it so difficult to root for Newton despite his moderate success this year. If Manning had chuckeled in his post-game presser and said "bring on the perp" you can bet that the press would of had a heart attack.

Whenever something happens in society its allways important to wonder what the reaction would be if the person who had done that thing was a diffrent race, that way you can tell for sure that your opinion is correct. So in this instance you can clearly see that if Cam was white, and if his reference was completely different, people would of lost there minds.

You know what the sad part is? Cam allmost had won me over in that game. But heres his major problem- the game is to easy for him. If he were to wince in pain everytime he throws, or let ESPN write a profile of how it takes him a week to get his shoulder pads off because he's so sore, I could see how maybe I'd root for the guy. But You tell me how its sporting to run 15 yards and then hurdle over your own offense of lineman, do a somersault into the end zone, injure a opponent because you flipped into him and knocked him out, and then get up and smile? If your that much more talented then everyone else, your basically giving a giant middle finger to the entire world if you dont go out of your way to pretend that you kind of suck.

@NPHuskerFL - bro that seems more than a little ridiculous to me.  That response by Cam - did you see it on TV when it happened?  Because it was very spur of the moment, and it was clearly in reverence to Manning.  The idea that Cam was trying to slight law enforcement by simply using a nickname Manning has?  Because he's known to "lay down the law" on the field?

I realize you're just quoting an article by some random dude over at SBNation, but still.

Too much has to go right for Denver to win this game. I will be pulling for Denver, but the reality is Carolina seems to have an undeniable edge.
Case in point: let us just say even if Denver's defense can match up and hold Carolina's offense in check, Denver's offense will not beat Carolina's Defense. That is what will win the game.

@JohnInCarolina John.  Yes,that article is ridiculous and I did see the live interview clip. These reporters are sometimes (a lot) grasping at straws as you can clearly see. Which is why I listed the source. Now had C. Newton grabbed the camera and put his face all up in it and yelled Eff The Police and BLM! Then maybe. Better yet the reporters should have some ethics themselves. But, that's a discussion for another thread and another day.

I know Aaron Rogers does the Championship belt move and fist pump. Nobody says SH/T about that. The 85 Bears had a QB from BYU, that had antics on the field and sidelines that blow away what Newton was doing.
not saying it is very professional of what any of them do, but I don't think it is right to single that dude out.
I hope he loses the Super Bowl but at this level, they should be able to do whatever they want. They earned it.
    just my opinion.

I hope Cam and the Panthers SMASH Denver! The more ppl discuss this [CAM Newton] non-issue the more I want the panthers to win.

For those that feel race isnt in the subconscious of the hatred for Cam, you're fooling yourself. In terms of respecting other athletes, if those teams dont like his antics, then STOP him! PERIOD. All NFL players have a bit of arrogance. Its what makes them who they are. They dont all have to carry themselves like the "Manning" brothers. Hell, we dont even know these athletes - only what we read or is aired on TV. Public perception is what makes us all individuals in what we believe we "should" see. When we dont see it OUR way, it's wrong.

LOL - I dont have any money on the game. It'll be interesting to see if the Denver D can slow the panthers Offense.

I was getting my mop chop last night and the guy in the chair next to me was talking about how it's not even worth betting on the game outcome itself, just the prop bets. He has the National Anthem at under 1:57.

That is cold. Manning is no Nameth, but stranger things have happened. You just never know. I was told this would be a tremendous upset for the Broncos, no doubt. Numbers do not lie.

Been out of tune with media coverage etc.  What are the "experts" saying?  Are the Panthers the underdog?

@BYS1981 - I'm with you there.  Denver runs number two on my No Fun League dislike list; the winner , San Diego (and that will follow wherever that team lands).  Hoping for a true Denver beat-down.
