Steak sauce?

Not a fan.  Don't know why anybody would ruin a well cooked steak by drowning it in a sauce.

I like A-1 on burgers.  My steaks don't even see pepper; salt and smoke only.

A good sauce will definitely enhance a steak. To me A-1 though is like ketchup, it's just wrong with a steak

I'll use it on a cheesesteak sandwich, but never a properly cooked steak.

I make my own steak sauce as well as Worcestershire sauce. I like a good steak sauce.....and I like my meat alone sometime. Depends on how I feel.

My steak, my money, my sauce, even my ketchup. If I like it on my steak then it is not wrong for me.

Still doesn't make it right or good... ;););)

I was raised if cooked right doesn't need it. Should be an insult to the chef if you ask for sauce

There's a couple of places near me that sell whole strip and bone out rib-eye sections. Inexpensive, but only select. Often tough, and not much flavor. If no gravy  or jus available, a little sauce doesn't hurt.

And there are folks who don't want any pink in their meat. Gotta offer something that returns the moistness.

You should never drown a steak in a sauce. But a good sauce in proper proportions can compliment a good steak.  I usually don't bother, but I do like the following:
    • pan/board sauce of steak drippings and butter
    • Béarnaise
    • Horseradish sauce

Not a fan of ketchup, A1 style, or bbq sauces with good steaks.

steak au poivre wouldn't be steak au poivre without the sauce.

and as others mentioned, Bearnaise is good stuff.  or a compound butter, bleu cheese....

I don't use sauce on a good steak, but I'm not offended if someone puts sauce on one of my steaks. It's their plate, they can do what they want with it.

As the quality of the steak goes down, the need for a sauce increases.
I like Peter Lugers and I also like another one called Country Bobs.

Lately, I have been basting the steaks with a solution of Better Than Bouillon Roasted Beef Base.
The beef base really amplifies the beef flavor of the steak. When I do this I don't need any additional steak sauce.

Horsey sauce is great on quality beef.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I do a cream and mustard-based sauce with mushrooms (champignons). My husband tends to prefer steak in its own juices but he always has some of my sauce when possible.
