Sad state of affairs.

These politicians open up our checkbook to foreign aid at a moments notice, yet it took that much to take care of our own heroes? The President, many governors & mayors, media & actors, etc have been on their soapboxes saying how they will welcome every Syrian refugee with open arms.........didn't here a peep from any of them on this. Charity has to start at home first.

There is hope. Up here prostate cancer was added to the list of work related illnesses for firefighters. I have been informed that the firefighters association filed a claim after my dad died from it in 2007. It won't mean much for me but my handicapped sister will receive substantial compensation. It is retroactive as well.

The problem is we the people for allowing this to be an issue.stlcharcoal said:These politicians open up our checkbook to foreign aid at a moments notice, yet it took that much to take care of our own heroes? Go to a veterans hospital or veterans home. Witness how these people who made the sacrifice are warehoused.
This issue, I think, shows the lack of moral obligation this country bestows upon those that do the dirty work to protect and serve.

americans love to talk about war and veterans. They just don't like to pay the price
no veteran should need someone to donate anything to help them. It ought to be taken care of.
Need to raise taxes and go more into debt if we teally want to take care of vets and fund this continual war and standing army

To be clear, it "took that much" for the U.S. Congress to take care of our own heroes. And this is not the first time Stewart had to shame the U.S. Congress into taking care of our own heroes.
Congress. Not governors, not mayors . . . and so on.
And Syrian refugees have absolutely nothing to do with Congress' dereliction of duty to our own heroes.
Might as well try to link the Keystone pipeline . . . or un-repaired potholes.
That'd be just as (ir)relevant . . .
to our own heroes.
To be clear.

And what's wrong with the Keystone pipeline? We're paying for the damn thing to get you more oil cheaper than world price for you to refine into gas and sell at back to us at world price. Merry Christmas.Steve

I guess so. They'll probably also walk on paved sidewalks, attend schools, and enjoy improved cell phone connections.
And yes, "GOOD ON" Jon Stewart!

Merry Christmas to you, as well.
(Check facts re: "cheaper" when you have a moment during these busy holiday times, I suggest.)
Happy New Year, too!

Break-even on the Canukistan oil-sand crude is $44 USD a barrel. The market price needs to be above $50, and stay above it, to keep funding new extraction. Right now they're hemorrhaging money as crude is at $38.

I would have used a smiley there but I can't get them where the should go. I know we aren't paying for it but most of the other facts were, in fact, factual. You're paying for the fence though. Steve

I'd gladly pay more for gas if I knew it was all coming from the US or from our neighbors to the north......same principles for everything else I try to buy local or US made. Kind of scary depending on countries that hate us.

Be a man, man.
Start a thread about Planned Parenthood. Or gubmint suppression of hoverboards. Or GMO labeling. Or the intelligence of Trump supporters relative to the linguistic ability of developmentally challenged snails.

We have regular stuff too. The dollar is in the crapper and our biggest industry is automotive manufacturing. World doesn't see it that way though. I think resources are third but that includes a lot of gold, diamonds, copper and aluminum. Not to mention potash.Steve

Back to the original post... Research how much we spend on foreign aid but neglect our own. The govt is stepping over ours on the porch to go help others. The $300 million study on why "lesbians are fat" would help a few. We don't need more taxes... More responsible political decisions.

Uhhh no...you misheard Beck or Limbaugh or whatever other wingnut you may have heard that from. That number is an order of magnitude greater than the real number for the study.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
Still, who cares why lesbians are fat? The ones in the movies aren't and that's all that counts.
