Really though... 50 dollars for a steak? I mean is it worth it?

i can go to Shulas atrak house and have one of the best for that price .
You won't get a SRF quality steak at a steakhouse for $50. Not in Atlanta at least...

@lousubcap is black grade the basic srf Kobe brisket? Have you had the northwest beef /RR brisket?

im a little afraid of trying the SRF... It might become a bad habit!

You know the feeling when you fishing as a young child? You go to your favorite pond, and you catch bluegill, all day long as a kid with a cane pole. It is the greatest feeling in the world, sitting on that bank, tossing your baited hook out into the water, watching your cork bobber, move twist and get tugged under? Landing that hand sized fish, multiple times,  all day long? You think you are the luckiest child on earth for that day, that moment.
This weekend, my favorite bank was my BGE XL, my bait was Rockwood, with pecan, cherry and sugar maple, and my catch was the SRF brisket.
It was finished off today, starting with breakfast burritos. Cheese, eggs, onions, peppers, Black bean with corn salsa, guacamole,  smoked mushrooms, and point of the brisket. I cut up what little I had left, and made burnt ends.
This was by far, the best brisket I have ever cooked in my life. This was that fascinating experience, that made you think, just like that day when you were a kid catching all that fish, you were the best at it, ever. My skill level may have been "luck." But this weekend, I was the best at cooking a brisket, ever.
i won't forget it. I have another coming up. I can't wait. Thank you BGE, thank you SRF, thank you Rockwood.  This combination will always fill your stringer.

12 bottles of fine wine. My kind of desert!  Brisket looks awesome!!  Congrats friend.
Just got my SIL and her Husband to bed, a huge struggle, LOL, they came back down stairs for more  brisket. Looks like this will be a long night, they are the folks from Texas!!!!
We started early with dates stuffed with Bleu cheese, wrapped in bacon, serving  a couple bottles of white burgundy, then I let them go to the cellar to pick the Reds for dinner. Big Mistake. LOL!!!! They slaughtered my Pinot Noir from France!!! The rest of the night was killer cabs.
    From outer space?
Unfortunately, no. From my space in my basement where I got a couple of old best up wine racks I lovingly refer to as my cellar, LOL!
Yeah - big mistake. Nobody goes in my cellar to pick wines - only to look. My wife once let my aunt pick out a white when I wasn't home and she picked an 03 Chapoutier Hermitage Vin de Paille! When I got home, they were browsing for reds. Had some way-too-young ones in their hands. Thankfully, I steered them in the right direction.

Kudos to you Ron.  I knew you'd kill it and if you came up short, the wine would kill it!  Seriously, always knew this would be good.  So glad it turned out that way my friend.  Next time I'm in the Ville we must meet and eat!

@blind99 - the black is their "entry level" wagyu brisket.  SRF also has competition briskets from RR  but I have not personally had any.  I believe @Thatgrimguy cooked a competition SRF brisket at brisket camp.  Hope this helps.

@YukonRon  congrats across the board.  Glad you had such a great time with friends and prepared and enjoyed an incredible banquet.  Time to throttle back and reflect on your successes.

I have done 5 of the "competition" briskets. Which are RR choice + or higher. They are fantastic and a good median between price and quality.

You are very kind my friend. Let me know, when you have a chance,  and let's get together. I would love the chance to learn more. I have much to learn. I still think I am a "wait until it's burned right" type of cook.

Yeah, you are right. I got a few butts to do for the homeless shelters around here, then I am rolling it back, a bit. We had a ton of folks through our home the past two weeks. My beautiful wife and I are in Florida for the next week or so. We plan on dialing it down while here, and maybe get some fishing in, or not.
Thank you for the kindness and guidence
