OT-Still No Cooking-BUT Day 2 Success Again

I posted pics from my fishing trip on Tuesday and what a day it was.  We caught a couple of World Class Redfish and had a great time.

Well we went back out yesterday and while it was not quite a repeat performance, I did manage to catch another monster Red.  I am truly blessed with these catches.  There are folks that chase Reds here in FL for a lifetime and never manage to land one of these, much less two in back to back days.

Don't mean to bore you folks, but I just had to share:

Titusville, Fl. and just bought XL and Med BGE.  "Every Day is A Bonus" in my world, and my job is to choke the life out of them. Cancer Sucks.

Being a true blue fishing guy, I understand slot limits and such...however I am unfamiliar with redfish (apart from reading about people targeting them).   Are they tasty?

Far more familiar with cold water species like salmon, halibut, trout, walleye.    Mmmm...time to dig thru the freezer....

That's excellent.  I've been out on several redfish charters in Florida and have never even hooked one.  Well done.

Let me assure you my friend that you are not boring us. Being a avid fisherman myself, I'm eating this up and looking on with envious eyes. I enjoy this kind of post as much as I do a cooking post. I certainly enjoy it far more than all the political bull$hit that has been popping up as of late. Keep on catching and posting them brother.

@Braggart been eating redfish my whole life. They are fantastic.not as good as some other saltwater fish, snook being my favorite.

I cook redfish on the grill with skin and scales on. They hVe thick scaled that allow the meat to cook through without burning.

but the real reason to love redfish, they are a blast to catch. You can catch them in 2 feet of water with a gold spoon, or in 3 foot of water with cut bait. They are like a tank, and fast. All around good sport fish

Everyone has different tastes, but with that said, the small ones are insane. They are the fish used in Chef Paul Prudhommes original Blackend Fish recipe that is now world famous. I can't speak for the big ones, but 5 pounds and down are about as good as it gets my friend. They are a delicacy indeed.

His blackening seasoning is outstanding. I haven't tried any of the others, but I'm willing to bet that they are great as well.

You can't really keep the large reads here in FL.  The slot limit is 18-26 inches, which means that the best tasting ones are in that slot.  And yes the Blackened Redfish craze certainly put a hurt on the population.  That is the primary reason why there are such restrictive limits on keeping them here in FL.  The 3 huge fish that we caught in the last two days were released unharmed except for a mild sore lip.

But the battles were epic and a lot of fun.  I think the shortest time we fought one to the boat was about 20-25 minutes.

I will be fishing in the area again.  But for right now fishing is off.  We had a front come in today bringing lots of wind, rain and much cooler temps.  It is sure to slow things down for a while.

Color me jealous.    Unless you like hard water fishing, we won't be wetting our lines until May 2016.

Great pics @Sonny3.  Hope you get out for some more fun before too long.

Looks like fun.  Been fishing a lot here in the delta.  Mostly specs, but I'm gonna start targeting reds.  Nothing more fun than pulling in a big bull.
