@Sea2Ski

Status- Standing by.

If you are on the south island, a couple humble recommendations if you will:
Kaikoura is a beautiful little town - go to the cape to see the seals or swim with dolphins. I had the best orange roughy in my life at The White Morph Restaurant.
If in Queenstown, you have to check out Vknow. Food is great and couple that owns the place, Danny & Lizzie, are top notch folks; you know, like most Kiwis.Large BGE & mini stepchild & a KJ Jr.The damp PNW -
Thanks @BizGreenEgg I appreciate the guidance!! Yes, this place is fantastic!!
Breakfast:

It was similar to a loosely packed meatloaf in a puff pastry. Yummy!!
Washed it down with:

Took a walk about town.
We we watched them put up "creepy Santa" as the locals call this guy. Apparently he has been put up here for decades. Everyone says he looks creepy, but when the voted to keep him or get rid of him, it was 99% to 1% in favor of keeping him.

Did not post yesterday it was a very busy one. Started out with fruit in the morning but did not have time to take a picture. Lunch I will get to later. When we got to Bay of isles, I boarded a fishing charter what trip is complete without a day of fishing for me. Went out and caught several fish but will only post two pictures.

While out on the water we also saw orcas feeding on rays. That was pretty awesome. This is how close we got:
After fishing we went to a restaurant where they cook up the larger of the two fish. Yes that is about a 16-20 ounce piece of fish!
Then we went to the Maori treaty house which was where the Polynesians signed a piece treaty with England. There were were greated by natives, and I was the lucky one to be chosen as "chief"of the visiting tribe. Great.
Dinner was a shredded lamb with root veggies. I also asked about the beef cheeks,so I got a sample of those as well.

And dessert

So Rotorua is a smelly town due to geothermal activity. I have been to other geothermal active sites, and while they all had some sort of sulphur smell in the air, this was oppressive. Like knock you off your feet strong. Apparently this site is very active and locals, if they have a heat release on their property will use it for cooking as the release temperature is steady at each site, but each site may have its on release temperature. Also, very few fences. Only if you could fall in did they have one.
Lots to see but it rained most of the day. That is okay.....
Dinner was tuna tartare and short rib over polenta. Dessert was a slice of tres leche cake.

Made our way to the capital of New Zealand, "Windy" Wellington. Population is about 300,000 when Auckland is 2 million. Toured down town and was able to see all the "must dos". We climbed Mt. Victoria, rode the Wellington cable car, went to the Te Pepe museum, and Zelandia which is an animal sanctuary where the animals are all free to roam, but all non-native flora and fauna have been removed. Really a neat place.
Found a a little corner resturant and my wife had an artichoke and Gorgonzola cheese risotto, and beef meatballs with mozzarella, prosciutto and leaks.
I had pork belly saltimbocca with prosciutto and sage
Dessert was semifrito mascarpone and kiwi fruit
I also saw saw this in the store, but did not buy them.

@DoubleEgger thanks for caring enough to check up on us!!! Yes we are fine. Still living the dream on this trip! I stopped posting because I thought people lost interest in what I was eating, and comments stopped. I would understand why, this is a BBQ forum and not Facebook. Note: I am not on Facebook!
I can not read that story. Some sites I can not get to. I sincerely hope it ended okay for everyone.
But since I am here, I will make a post. We did go up in a helicopter. First time, and we flew to a vineyard 120 NM away so it was an incredible ride passing over Christchurch and up the coast to the best meal I ever had. Duck sausage, wild red stag loin, horseradish whipped potatoes, and a lemon tort that was out of this world.

We we are now headed to Tasmania. The seas are not nice to us. 12-16 foot seas are in the forecast. Right now they are at 4-8 ft. This picture does not do it justice at all.

Keep them coming! -
Been enjoying this thread and the pics. Sorry I didn't say so.Lawrenceville, GA

And you need to check out the real Tasmanian Devils. They do exist and are quite a garbage consumer. There used to be (still there?) a wild life refuge that was big on rescuing them. Feeding time is quite a show-I would schedule that no where near food time for you. Enjoy-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Okay I will keep posting since at least a few people are interested.
Seas are definitely picking up. Currently 8-12 foot now with 30 KT winds. Ugly.

So does NZ have a bunch of critters that can kill you, like Aussieland does?

@Botch No NZ is the safe place. Very few stinging plants or bugs. Originally no rats or mice, until the French came. There are a ton of safe inquisitive birds. They come right up to you. No snakes and any found are killed on sight without question.--------------------------------------------------
