My painter makes over 100k a year painting cars, I have to help him read his work orders. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

I work with many people that I wonder "how did they get their name on a degree".  Don't think a degree really makes a person, in my opinion.
I totally agree... Undergraduate degrees are useless..

nowadays... You can't be competitive in the job market without a graduate degree
Dang, I don't even have a bachelor degree, just associates. I guess I'll never work for a Fortune 20 company. Oh, wait, I used to, until we split into 2 Fortune 50 companies. Now I work for a Fortune 50 company. And they pay me.
That's what I was getting at. I had an associates degree for 11 years and decided to go back and get my bachelor degree, mainly for personal goals. That was for a Fortune 500 company that hired me.

However,  I do feel times have changed in the job market where the advanced degrees help in some busniness. They don't teach ANSI 61 gray electrification equipment in college.

Well of course there is an exception to every story.

but he overwhelming number of young adults who graduate from college with a bachelors degree have a difficult time finding jobs, and most do not get a job in their field of study
I agree, currently undergrad degrees are rather worthless. If I was a junior or senior in high school right now I'd be looking at the skilled trades, not a traditional 4 year school. Probably welding or HVAC.

I didn't claim I was a broke college student. I never came onto a corporate website and tried to sell copyrighted material either.  My alma mater also dashed your school's hopes for a national championship.

Insulting those who don't have an advanced degree is ignorant at best.

I think everyone is missing my point here.

I AM TALKING ABOUT A BACHELORS DEGREE. EITHER GET A GRADUAE DEGREE AFTERWARDS, or don't go to a 4 year college.

get a trade, like painting....welding... Body work... Etc.

Well my friend .. I played college football... For that one school who won the national championship in 2013... I will break out the championship rings if you would like to see.

nobody at Clemson has seen one of hose in 30 years.

also, do you use your degree in your line of work? If not, I appreciate you proving my point

I think we all get your point. You feel as if you are somehow better than most because you are pursuing a law degree.

Lol I'm really not sure how that came about... How about this... Don't get a useless bachelors degree in a useless subject matter like I did ... Criminology

mayeb some degrees such as finance, teaching, nursing, or something with an actual skill would be beneficial

This thread reminds me of how fast things can go off topic and take a turn for the worst, something about mentioning college, lol.

In my opinion, for most degree, college only proves your willing to put forth the time and effort, and your learn your job by OJT, not that this applies to law school..

Wow....I wonder how I can even wipe myself...no advanced degree...when IN Madison WI ....it is so saturated with "ed-gue-ma-cated" people that they can not find positions utilizing their field of study. They worked for me with low wages and high debt load.

Quite frankly when a I need my Fall landscaping completed...I certainly am not going to pay anymore if Larry has an MS or Phd in Horticulture. Fall clean up pays $175 ..degree or not...sorry

And how many CEO does each forum member have in their company..even though many people have their MBA...there are not enough openings.

Even my wife that worked for $38k / yr for 30 years with no student debt managed to put away over $1,000k..hmmm no debt = purchase shares of KMG, MTW, JCI...but alas..she wasn't  "ed-gue-ma-cated" either

that 100% applies to law school ... its not what most people think... once you pass the BAR, its back to square 1 actually learning how to be a lawyer.

not to mention i will owe uncle sam 100k after its all over... and i think I'm broke now lol

I'm sorry if i came across as judging at one point... but i am simply stating that MY undergrad degree was useless... along with dozens of my friends who have degrees in social science working at publix...

i think i made too big of a generalization... and for that i retract my statements.

my point exactly ... my wife doesn't have any education past high school, and she makes plenty of money... i encouraged her not to go for a 4 year degree, simply because i think it would have been a waste of money. (she is in real estate)

and as for larry... if he has a MS or PHD looking for landscaping work... thats his own misfortune my friend
