What's your choice of cheese there? The only reason I ask is by accident I recently discovered Boar's Head Yellow American cheese. To think all these years I have been using Kraft Singles!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Some higher end restaurants, such as "The Husk" in Charleston, SC, use Kraft Singles on their burgers and it blows the minds of connoisseurs. lol. Never tried Boars Head American, so I won't knock it.... But the tried and true Kraft Singles never disappoint on a patty melt IMHO. The meltiness is always spot on and with the perfect amount of saltiness for a gooey burger. -

Yep that looks amazing. Did you use a griddle or cast iron pan of some sort to get the pattys so thin? I can never get thin hamburgers. Nicely Done!!!I raise my kids, cook and golf. Thx guys! @Scottborasjr , I used a cast iron skillet. For the patties, I took 1/4 lb balls of ground beef and squished 3 at a time with a spatula until very thin and flat inside the skillet. Then sprinkled on course sea salt.

Try @Dyal_SCs other trick. Put the ground beef in a gallon ziploc. Use a rolling pin and roll till as thin as you want then remove from bag. I started doing this after one of his posts and just throw whole lb in there. Roll it out until it fills the width and 3/4 the heigh of bag. The. Cut bag on sides and throw the beef on cutting board. Then I use a knife or pizza cutter to cut my patties. Nice and thin and very quick and easy.Scottborasjr said:Yep that looks amazing. No sir @Begger , just plain white bread. For patty Melts, I like to toast two pieces of white bread lightly in the toaster, then take them out and build your burger. The lightly toasted inside will keep the juices from tearing the bread apart. Then you want to butter the outside of the bread and finish the built burgers off like you would a grilled cheese sandwich in a CI Skillet.
