@YukonRon - here's a place in Versailles that used to carry Rockwood (and still may) Henry's Outdoor Power Equipment Lawn Mower Store
Address: 436 Lexington Rd, Versailles, KY 40383 Phone:(859) 873-2377.  When I had a friend who would frequently run the L'ville to Lex route I would have him swing by and grab some.  (That route has since dried up so I go with firecraft.)  You may be able to get a few bags to hold you til the Rocky Mountain high.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

@lousubcap Roger that. I will be heading over that way soon. I'll touch base with you to see if you need any. I have 8 bags of Carbon Del Sur and two bags of Rockwood plus others, left. Have you tried CDS? It is pretty dang good. It is close to Rockwood, but much less expensive via restaurant depot, 11-12 bux / 18# bag. If you want to try it, I will gladly bring you a bag.

As it looks now, I am only going to be here a few more months anyway, I will be looking for Rockwood in Colorado after the first of the year.
Right now, Ruff's BBQ Shoppe in Golden is the only location.

  • Never been there, @Ladeback69.  And the thoughts of anywhere in Illinois in February is enough for this Southern Boy to stay home in GA!

have used the briquettes in the large but never thought to use them in my little mini knockoff, thats alot nicer than picking out small pieces of lump for use in the mini. definitely going to do that.
Other than the extra ash, i see no disadvantage. For direct grilling, there are actually several advantages to using briquettes. They are honestly all i use in my mini. There are times that i still use and prefer lump in my large though.

Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

    Status- Standing by.
