I am going to go with most likely yes. Can you split it so we can see the wood grain?

99 percent yes.. If you know what wood smells like ( I work construction) so I deal with maple and oak a lot. Cherry has a smell too.

That straight grain looks like it is some species of cherry for sure. Also compare the bark in this link.

Neve used see cherry before. What's it best used on?Brandon, MS -
I love cherry on beef, pork and chicken! It has a pleasant, mild smoke similar to pecan which I bet you are familiar with down your way.loveTheEgg said:Thanks all. Gonna throw it in the egg. It is well seasoned and got a stack of it.

Great stuff. Use it in moderation ... a friend used too much cherry to smoke dark soy sauce marinated salmon, salmon turned out tasting great but looked like charcoal

I have five cherry trees on my property. 100% cherry.

Cherry leaves a dark color. I have found it coats everything with it.
Flavor is real mild.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

If it looks like cherry, smells like cherry and tastes like cherry, then it can only be one thing. It's pine wood
Only kidding my friend. I really like to use 75% oak and 25% cherry on beef. You get a great oak taste and a killer ring that cherry is so famous for. Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
