The only thing I don't like is they have no information on their website that say who owns/runs the company, or even a physical address for the company.
It might be on their Facebook but I don't view FB. Might be my web browser but almost every company has a link to "about us" "contact us" that tells where they are located and something about the company.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -

I wonder if I could sneak a roadie under the radar.... That Pelican 65 last month was a little conspicuous.

Sure. Stash it inside the 65.theyolksonyou said:I wonder if I could sneak a roadie under the radar.... That Pelican 65 last month was a little conspicuous. -
What size would you recommend for a 20 lb. brisket?SGH said:The price and warranty is definitely right. I thought I would try them too. You can bet after a few months the price will skyrocket. I hope that they are good, I reserved 2 of the 65's myself.

The 45 will work perfect for holding meat. The Roadie would be to small and the 65 would be way more than you need for a single brisket. However due to the low price, you may want to consider the 65 as it could be used for holding meat any many other uses as well. It won't be long and these will be overpriced just like all of the other brands. If it will be used as a dedicated warmer only, then the 45 would be about perfect.fergi saidWhat size would you recommend for a 20 lb. brisket?Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

Doesn't the Pelican have a Lifetime Warranty? These are a pretty good price. Might have to reserve one of the 45s. Not sure the lifetime warranty is worth the $100 price difference.
And just an FYI, Pelican came out with the rotomold cooler first, NOT Yeti. Pelican sold them to the medical field for use in live organ transportation. They worked great, but they were pretty expensive. Yeti is the knockoff brand that took Pelican's cooler design, made it in a cheaper and larger version, and began selling it to the mass market. Pelican later saw that there was a large mass market for the cooler (due to Yeti sales) and then started making larger ones for the mass market. Now Yeti raised their prices and the Pelican is actually a lower retail price.

Pelican is a huge company with large government contracts. Yeti is relatively small, but what Yeti has is the dubious honor of selling the most expensive coolers. Some people want the name that everyone knows is the most expensive brand. It works for them and they do make good (hard) coolers so all the power to them. They even get away with a limited warranty (compared to some, particularly Pelican).
My only complaint on the high-end coolers is the weight.

Definitely agree with the weight issue. I was going to get my dad a Yeti for his 70th but decided against it since I doubt he would be able to move it around with his bad back.nolaegghead said:Pelican is a huge company with large government contracts. They look nice, and the price is way better than the other guys... I just chatted with the company, they said it is not available in Canada yet, but will be in the future, they are working on it but couldn't give me a date incase any other North of the Border Eggers are interested.

Their Facebook page says Houston, TX. No street address given. Tried to look up the domain registry but no leads there. It was registered through GoDaddy and they don't put in who it really belongs to in the registry. It does make me a little weary that the cooler goes on sale in August and the website registration expires 2 months later. Most likely coincidence.Photo Egg said:The only thing I don't like is they have no information on their website that say who owns/runs the company, or even a physical address for the company.

They are definitely not light weight. The big Yeti packed full of ice weighs a LOT. A buddy usually brings one full of ice to hunting camp. Holds ice for a long time, but it's hell trying to get it out of his truck.GATraveller said:

And if you are ever deciding between a Pelican and a Yeti, be aware that the Pelican weighs more than the Yeti.

The truth is, all of the rotomolded coolers are better than the average Joe will ever need. With that said, that's why I shop around and try to buy the best deal. I bought a Pelican first, followed by a Orca. Both were bigger and cheaper than a comparable size Yeti. The same holds true for RTI. Right now they are unknown and thus affordable. They all have different features and bells and whistles. The question is, does the bells and whistles and name recognition justify the price? To me the answer is no. As I stated earlier, I have both a Orca and a Pelican. I have seen and used friends Yetis. I can say honestly that I see very little difference in them other than the price. Of the three that I have used so far, I like Pelican the best. The latches are what won me over. Performance wise they all are about equal. If the RTI follow suite, they will be the best deal in town at the moment.

Their website seems a little fishy to me. There are no other pages other than the personal information they collect from you.

Do you think it may be a scam? They are not asking for payment info or money down. That's usually a dead give away.nolaegghead said:Their website seems a little fishy to me. There are no other pages other than the personal information they collect from you.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

They did send a email confirming my reservation for all 3 coolers. There was no mention of money or payment though. I took that as a good sign.nolaegghead said:I don't know. If they send you email or a private link for payment, I'd be weary.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

I just called and spoke to John at RTI. He is the owner of the company. He encourages anyone to call that has concerns. He was a real down to earth guy and answered a lot of my questions.

Little fishy, but what could they get just from your basic info???
My wife does this all the time with boutique children's clothes when they have pre-sales. She's been burned mainly when the preorder exceeds expectations and the people fail to provide everyone with item.
What is fishiest is its almost the exact website and everything yeti has.
I just woke woke up from a smoking nap but am gonna preorder one after I read it a little more I think.
i only found one YouTube video though._______________________________________________XLBGE -
I actually called and spoke to the owner. They seem legit to me. He said that they did have to change a few things on it to appease Yeti. But he said what you see in the pic is what you will get.MrCookingNurse said:Little fishy, but what could they get just from your basic info???
