OT: What to do with used lump

I throw mine in the edge of the woods. It might work for flowerbeds though.

I have been throwing it in the flower beds...looks good after watering.Lbge and MiniMax in Southern Manitoba

Fling the ash into the grass.
- Bettendorf, Ia with lots of time in Chattanooga, Tn. LBGE, plate setter, ar, Looft lighter, maverick et-735, Rutland gasket, Smokeware SS cap, Kickash basket, and lots of cast iron.

I've got a large white oak stump in the backyard that is hollow in the middle. I fill this stump several times a season with ashes.
My theory is the ashes will help the stump deteriorate faster. No idea if it's helping. -
I use mine to keep snakes from coming into the backyard.
-
If it's still charcoal, it's an alkaline.
If it's ash, it's acidic.
So use it to adjust your pH accordingly.
Just make sure it's extinguished and to spread it evenly. For the small amount that comes out of the Egg, it's probably not going to make much of a difference, but better to recycle it than throw it away

My ashes go into the yard, flower beds, and the raised garden. It's good for the plants.

Yep, into the yard, usually just outside my fence or the dogs would cover themselves in it. I collect it in a 5 gal bucket, leave it open for the rain, etc and it gets really sludgeyTHANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Check your plants and see what they like. Peonies love ash, they bloom even more than normal, azaleas not so much. Like @stlcharcoal advises, know your ph and adjust accordingly. If you lawn needs lime, no sense spreading ash on it, one works against the other.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I host a compost area for the neighbors, kind of a community exercise. My used lump and ash go there. Last couple of years we have produced some very nutrient rich soil that has provided excellent results in flower beds and vegetable gardens.
Ash and coals from my fire pit and my fireplace also go in the compost pile."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I sell mine to the local crematorium.

Had to google that Trion thing.....wow.
I want to be cremated over Rockwood--just like Darth Vader. Then put my ashes in a Mini BGE. If the state requires a vault, then put the Mini BGE inside a Medium BGE. Just make sure both have good gaskets on them, and a Smokeware cap on the Medium.
-
I put mine in an urn up on the mantel...LBGE (still waitin' for my free T-Shirt), DIgiQ DX2 (In Blue, cause it's the fastest), Heavy Duty Kick Ash Basket, Mc Farland, WI.

If it wasn't for my BGE I'd have no use for my backyard... -

If you have a wood stove, the chips and small pieces of lump are great in the bottom of the firebox. Light the fire right on the top. Last year I had some really inexpensive mesquite that was about 1/2 chips and dust - guess that's why it was so cheap.YukonRon said:I host a compost area for the neighbors, kind of a community exercise. Spread them in the Regency air tight and the neighbourhood had a very BBQ kinda smell to it. The ash just goes in the trash.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
If I lived near the coast I think I would do this every few weeks - ideally near a tourist area.

I put them in a 30 gallon metal trashcan with the coal ash. Then take them to the dump. Don't see the need to dump them in the field and chancing a fire.Steven

As was mentioned earlier, it will affect the pH of your soil, so know what you are doing and decide from there. Might not be great for your plants, or it might be.

I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada -
