This is slated to release February 2016.  Figured we could spring for a couple of them and have them follow Centex, Nola and SGH around for the weekend.
I'd love to have one.  I'll be following the release for sure.

This is pretty cool and I don't even like drones.
  • That's pretty badass right there but I maintain a certain lifestyle that is not conducive to being shadowed by drones. I will have to pass but maybe we could throw the tracking device in Unit #7, put it on loop and watch SGH in action.

I have an AR drone but that looks sweet.  I wonder if it could be retrofitted to drop lumps of Royal Oak on @henapple 's head.  Or is that being a terrorist?

I'm not big into drones but the tech geeks at my company love them.  I just like flying them around occasionally.  Not enough to drop a grand or more on one.  This seems pretty sweet though.

The most prolific output in the drone market now is the production of kickstarter campaigns and promotion videos for drones that don't actually exist.

I have watched these <$1000 "follow me" drone videos coming out every month or two.  Every product looks better than the last but I have yet to see any of them go into production.  I know, I almost kicked $500 into a campaign to get a first deliverable of another backpackable one last year, but luckily did not.

Lily Drone doesn't operate much like the promo video

The only true follow-me drones in production now will run you easily >$2000 for the options you need to make this work.  These are well established drones by DJI, AR and 3DR which have progressed to more user friendly variants (don't quote me on that, they're out, I don't know specific models).

It's not that these concepts aren't cool...they're just not real.   And oh yeah, all the parks, beaches, ski resorts and other public nature areas are putting up drone bans so when they do come out, you won't be able to fly them anyway.  :(

Here's another one that came out a month after the Lily video did.  Also cool.  Also not available...

I'm not a hater, I think this technology is REALLY COOL, and I want to own it.  I'm just getting sick of kickstarter campaigns getting promoted in the news as actual products.  And they are doing this not because it is news, because it gets them clicks!

Did you see this kickstarter campaign for a water bottle that links to your phone so you are reminded to drink!  WTF is going on!!!  I'm holding out for the "Breathe Reminder App."  <insert head slap>

Just curious... the pictures from the Salado Eggfest show a river, albeit small and shallow, running through the area.  Does anyone know how the site did during the recent rains?
