@DoubleEgger are you using an APP or just the control console, used mine half dozen times since I got it last month, no issues....I did have to return my First one before ever using it because it would just freeze trying to set it up
No app. Just the stoker status. I can tell when the unit quits working because the web page won't refresh. If you go out to the unit itself, it still appears to be operational although it is not working. It will display the temp from when it stopped working.  Reset the unit and the blower comes on and brings the unit back up to temp. The last thing I want to be doing is looking at my phone every five minutes wondering if the Stoker is working. I had more peace of mind with the daisy wheel. Maybe simpler is better....

Totally agree. You are in much worse shape with a defective Stoker as opposed to running naked and at the mercy of the natural elements.

@DoubleEgger yous is Doing what mine did out of the box  I did a dry run first without even putting it on the Egg, they rushed me one right back out, had it in a day or two, love this one, frustrating but it was worth it....they work pretty late, I've called this late and got them.....I might add, download the PitPal App...get the pro version, it's like a couple dollars, you will like it much better than the console, plus graphs etc

Have you guys been able to connect to wireless?   I have an Apple AirPort Extreme that I plug into and it gives me an IP address (070.001.etc), but I can't connect to the webpage when I type it in.  I've watched every video, but no luck!
Have you gone to your preferences?   You may have to find the page to 'allow' that IP address.
Also, make sure that your browser (Safari, I presume) is up to date.

Call APPLE and have 'em step you thru the setup utility.  You MIGHT have miss-configured something at that step?

I HATED my Airport Express after a while.   Even 25 straight-line feet away from my confuser, It was a flakey connection.

@BeggerExact opposite results with AEBS.  No issues and easy setup.   You must have had a faulty unit.  That and a crappy 10 year old WiFi unit can handle 25 feet line of sight.  AEBS has great range and dual band.  A bit pricey but performance isn't an issue.

@BamaFaninArky - have you connected the Stoker via Ethernet and gone thru the wireless config instructions yet?  You have to do this before it will work via WiFi.

  • @beggar, yes, I've connected it via Ethernet.   If gives me a readout for an ip, I just can't connect to the ip via my desktop.   @4runnner, I will take a look at my browser.   The thought of talking to a it help desk at Apple makes my head hurt!

@bamaFanInArky getting wireless (non wifi) connected is a trick....a real trick-- you are going to need the IP @ your house, not the one the stoker gives you- google whats my IP.....that's the first step of a few more

sorry for the trouble you are having and I hope you get it resolved without too much fuss... This post makes me happy that I didn't get a pit controller of any type, and instead let the egg do what it's designed to do... my low n slows almost always stay +/- 20 at the max

@BamaFanInArky  - you can reserve an IP for your Stoker by going into AirPort and entering the MAC address of the Stoker and reserving an IP. That way you always know the IP for the web site.  Also, make sure your updates to the Stoker when you configure it to connect to your WiFi actually saves.  I messed up the first time and it didn't save on my first attempt.   Good luck.

All true but that is only when he is mobile...outside of his home network.  I believe right now, he is at home on the same network as his Stoker so it will be 10.0. xxx or 192.whaterver his internal network is.

True--I think mine connects to the same IP now weather I am on Wifi or Mobile though I paid someone to come set it all up- was worth it----Word of advice, I was doing a couple of Butts last week, accidentally programed in 2250 for pit temp instead of 225 ( I think it was the tequila) guess what, it will try and do that!

Thanks for asking. I sent another follow up email Monday and got a reply back yesterday late afternoon. I'm sending it back to them for repair/replacement. Hopefully, this goes smoothly from here out.

Mine did, they sent me a pre paid return label, just use the box the new one comes in, they will probably just send the Stoker, keep the old antenna probes and power supply

They didn't indicate anything about sending me pre paid return label. It was more like send it back in and include this email.....

I got my replacement stoker in 2 days- they emailed me a label and sent back the bad stoker in the new box, just call them and confirm, no reason for you to pay shipping

What do you mean by new box? Mine came in a regular cardboard box and the stoker was just wrapped in plastic.

Are you sure you ordered a Stoker from Rocks and not a Stroker from Roxx?
