Ozark Oak discontinued

I just enquired with Firecraft about the availability of OO and Brad informed me that it has been discontinued..Had anyone else heard this?

Yup .. I should have bought more bags of Hasty bake when it was on sale at amazon ... hindsight is whatever .. Oh well .. thank goodness for Rockwood.

LOL - I have only posted there twice, but used RRP there as well. Seeing that nobody ever replied I assumed they thought I was the law snooping around! I even wrote to the C of C there and never got a response!

I believe I remember on a previous post they were closing. I picked up 4 bags from my dealer yesterday. I asked him about it. He was told by a guy at OO that they were going to make exclusively for Hasty Bake.

Here's a response I got from Hasty Bake just yesterday:

Hmmm...so the theory that OO is destined to become BGE lump might be a possibility. If RO now owns the OO facility, and RO supplies BGE lump...

Good question. I'm not sure, either, but when I first read it I took it to simply mean that HB is stating that they, too, are basically in the dark as to what RO's distribution plans might be. For example, HB doesn't know if there will be an opportunity for anyone else to buy any more product or if RO will be wanting to maintain exclusivity. Again, not sure. The response was sent from an iPhone so maybe this might help explain the ambiguity.

I would imagine OO quality had a lot to do with the raw material as well as how they ran the plant. I'm not sure there is any reason to believe they would keep the same pure source of raw material, so whatever comes out of that plant may not look like OO at all.

I agree. What incentive does RO have to continue the process with the same raw material as OO. Just eliminate the competition and produce more of your own product. I hope I'm wrong.
