    @smokeypitt .. what I find frustrating is that I live here in Los Angeles and there are no Big Joe dealers here that stock anything. I'd like to see what I'm buying before I spend my hard earned cash ...
    @SoCalTim the Costco road show is coming up in your area.

    Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

    but I do know that the other egg knockoffs aren't as good.  They will cook and make decent food, but take long to get up to temp, take longer to cool down

    Do you just make this stuff up as you type?
    @Photo Egg, I  am going base on the Kahuna I have that was only $200, but isn't much faster in getting up to temp then my XL and  is the size of a mini. The  quality isn't that great either.  There is at least a 1/2" gap between the outside of the firebox and the outside of the egg.  I wasn't grouping the KJ or the Primo into this.  Sorry if there was any confession.  I am talking about the Charbroil version or some of the other cheaper models.  You get you paid for with an egg.  If I want to change out my grill every 3 years or so I would buy one like at Lowes.   The Kahuna is ok, but I would rather have a Mini, Mini Max or a KJ Jr.

    @SmokeyPitt  ... thanks brother, I'm on it.

  • I've got a vision m-series ( equivalent to a medium). It has a limited lifetime warranty on ceramics and 5 year warranty on metal parts. I think its a nice little cooker. Certainly worth the 200 bucks I paid for it. I prefer my two eggs but to consider the vision I have as some WAY lesser brand that I'll be replacing soon isnt quite right. It holds temp great and has no problem getting up to temp.

    Doesn't matter what you cook with, if you want hot, fast; light it that way with something like a weed burner.

    Yes, sir.  I took your original point.  Just attempting to provide some clarity for those that may be considering the Jr as an option over the MM--that's all.

    Harbor Freight has one you can buy for about $18 that connects to a 20lb propane tank.  That's what I use to start my fire.

    BTW, the new Kick Ash Basket for the Medium GE may fit in the Joe Jr.  Chad was going to do some "research" and update the recommendation soon.
    Just got an e-mail from Chad, the Med GE KAB will NOT fit in a KJ jr.  Guess I'll have to look into a hi-que upgrade...

    @SoCalTim - you won't regret it.  I wouldn't even bother paying the extra $7 bucks for the starter.  Those things are the first to break.   Based on the build quality, I figure it'll last me maybe 3 years since I keep it outside.  It sounds like a Harrier Jump Jet hovering over the flight deck when you run it full blast.  I like.

    Watch the sparks from this - as Nola says, it has the same effect as a VTOL jet...

    Good choice @SoCalTIm .  The tip that was given to me that I continue to follow is don't feel the need to pull the trigger while lighting the Egg.  You can regulate the flow just fine using the adjustable knob.  Also, you may want to wear some form of eye protection--hat, gloves, long sleeve shirt probably not a bad idea, either.  (I must confess I should practice what I preach, more, in this regard.  Sometimes I get in a bit of a hurry.)

    @nolaegghead - At eggfests, do you strap the propane tank to your back and walk around lighting all the eggs for the cooks?
