A "home" for my Egg
Hi Everyone,
I'm a bit torn. I have had my LBGE for over a year now and love cooking on it. I currently have no table or tablemates for it because ultimately I want to place my Egg in the area which I've attached some pictures.
I bought this house and it had this Gasser, bricked in. I have never turned it on for obvious reasons. Let me also state that the project of retrofitting my Egg into this space is not something I'm able to do. I am just not that talented and will need the help of a professional. I cannot seem to find anyone to help me, and the one quote from a professional was $1800 to do the work.
All I want to do is to remove the gasser, retrofit the egg for which the floor area will need to be built up some, and perhaps add a little "flair" like extend the top area so I'll have some more room. I live near Charlotte, NC. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If I were you I would take the head of the gasser off and leave the cart. Put patio block on top of the cart and then put the Egg on top of the patio block. If it doesn't work or look like you want all you are out is the money for a couple of patio blocks.XL BGE, LG BGE, and a hunger to grill everything in sight!!!Joe- Strongsville, OH

The head of the gasser is sitting on a "shelf" which needs to be demolished. I guess it's nothing a sledgehammer couldn't handle

Rather than convert, did you ask for a quote to add a matching/semi-matching enclosure for the egg? You could end up with more storage Plus the gasser could serve as a side burner for "sides" ... or an extra prep table.
The quickest "fix" would be to get a piece of granite to fit in place of the gasser grill. Then, with the egg next to it in it's nest, the gasser becomes a covered prep area.

I'd lean towards adding to the gasser. The little wall next to your grill could be cut out (not sledgehammered). You could get one of those stainless egg carts that would match your stainless gasser. What you save on construction would almost pay for the cart. It shouldn't cost more than a $100 to cut out the wall. Or go by yourself a 9" angle grinder and do it yourself - it would take less than an hour.Phoenix

Hmmm ... came back to see what others had written and noticed that vanilla ate my middle paragraph. So one more time:
Design the egg add-on structure so that the egg can be pull, when you sell the house, and replaced with something to make it into an extended prep area for the gasser.

Hey Everyone,Here's the final product. I found a local guy that was able to pull the gasser out and retro in my LBGE in a day. I'm very happy with it.

I still have a gasser, great warming oven and storage for hot stuff. You may want to spin the table nest so the legs are at the 1:30; 4:30; 7:30; 10:30 positions. Leaves enough space to get a pan under the front vent to rake the ash out super easy. Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
