  • Maybe it's a good time to bring up this sentence in the BGE warranty:

For Warranty purposes, an original purchaser is the person whose name
appears on the purchase receipt, or is in possession of an original
purchase receipt, and who has registered their BGE Warranty as required.

Doesn't it sound like there are two different "owner for warranty" situations?

    1) Show up at the dealer with the purchase receipt and, if your name matches the name on the receipt, you're golden.

    2) If you have the original receipt for an unregistered egg, you can register it in your name and once again, you're golden.

    Yes? No? Maybe?

yep. That was my question to him - "has it been registered"?

If his name is on the receipt, you're screwed.

Nope. You can give it as a gift and the recipient gets the warranty. I've done it. Actually, I can go in and he can too but that is a shop decision and they know me.

  • Ha ha. Cazzy is right. Turns out he's a nice guy after all. He emailed me back after i tried to help him out:

Thank you for your courtesy. It is really unheard of on Craigslist.

    You get good karma points.

Hey Cen-Tex, with your good karma points, you'll never have a warranty on that mini max. You should just buy it.  :))

I think these are the only good karma points Ive ever gotten so I'd better keep them in my back pocket. He was just so worn down by the knuckleheads on Craig's list that he was being defensive at first. He seems like a nice enough fella. Someone will pick it up from him. I still don't know if he bought it, won it, got it as a gift or whatever.

Hope you get it Caz. i would rather buy one at Salado. I don't want the Platesetter anyway so its really only $50 difference from a new one with warranty. Not for me. If you could trade something that would be cool.

    Plus Tax…add on another $40

Might not use the plate setter all the time as I would also rather have a WOO but the setter will work with the WOO and might be great with pizza setup. or just sell for a few bucks.
    Thank you,

Warranty is worth way more than $100 to me. Plus the hassle of driving to San antonio etc. it's a good deal for the right person. Just not for me. Im hard on them. The warranty is my friend :D

If the product has been registered no way I'd get it, especially at that price.

I have used my warranty twice on platesetters (3 yr warranty) and once on my medium egg. They alone is almost $350.

Agree on the warranty part. But that would not be an issue with the original paper work.
    Making the trip I agree.

I paid $500, paperwork and dealer all in place.
$660 here with tax is what it would cost.
I couldn't pass up the deal , even though I didn't really need another egg.

What's funny is how we all anticipate we will need the warranty. I was the same way, there has to be guys out there with old eggs that have not once used a warranty.

My large is almost 2 no warranty issue yet I hope it stays that way to be honest. A base is the only thing I'd fuss about , I can deal with cracked bowls and rings....they almost should remove the warranty on those to cut down on claims imo. It's still usable and if after a few years u "need" one pay $100 or so.

I still have my 1st egg 15yrs old now not 1 issue with it at all.

I think it's due to everyone going 700 or more on high heat cooks.

  • If anyone in central TX wants it, I did confirm it has not been registered and the original retailer will register whoever buys it for the warranty. I'm out of town for 4 days but may grab it when I get back if nobody else wants it.

You should post a thread about boiling a brisket on a craiglist sourced GreenEgg.

Maybe its just me but I'd have to get it for 400 or less.  I live in central Texas and have no desire at this price point.

I'd fly to Austin, buy it, eat some great Austin BBQ, and fly it home if I could get it on a plane.... and if I didn't have 3 kids, a wife that might object, that is...
