How much pulled pork for 44 people?

I volunteered to bring pulled pork to a party. I bought a 10.5 lb pork butt, with the bone in. Just found out there will be around 44 people at the party. There will be other items there, like chicken, dogs, etc plus other sides. Do you think 10.5 lbs uncooked will be enough for 44 people? Plan to serve it on mini hawiaan rolls.

On small rolls u should be ok. I would throw a 8 lber on with it cause when they taste it there gonna eat more than one

I have only ever cooked one butt at a time before. Provided I can get them both over the platesetter on my large without them touching each other, how much longer will it take to cook if I add another butt?
-
They will cook the same as they would if there was only one in there. 1 is plenty but 2 is better. I did 2 for a party of this size and we never cracked the 2nd one. We had other food too.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

And you have plenty of room on a large for 2 butts on the main grid. I'm doing it right now and had 4 on both eggs (with extra grids) all night.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

@MLAMB01......I got 60 PP Sliders out of a 9.5 lb butt, at the Moonbow Eggfest last month. Sliders go fast though. For 40 people, 1.5 sliders /pp ain't much....heck, I can eat 10 or 12 myself !!!!!

Go with 2 butts for that many - they will want seconds, and better too much than not enough.1 LBGE in Chapel Hill, NC

If you were only serving pork, I would say that is not enough. If you were only serving pork I would recommend about 30lbs of product (based on 5.6oz per person).I would recommend doing two just to be safe though.I cooked for 35 here at work and cooked 34lbs (4 butts), but that was the only protein and I based on 8 oz. each.------------------------------

Go with two. Sam's club sells them in two packs so I always do two on my large. Plenty of room on a large for two. If there are extras, you can let people take some home (or freeze it for yourself).

Two it is! Picked up another 8 lb butt last night. Going to coat them with Mickey's coffee rub and put them on tonight after work. Is there anything different about cooking the 2 butts at once vs one? Will I have to do anything special, like rotate them? Add more smoke wood?

@mlamb01, should take roughly the same amount of time if they are around the same size.I let these ride for 12 hours without touching them.------------------------------

I find there is no difference cooking 1 - 4 butts at once. Everyone is different, but I go 280-300 indirect for 9.5-10 hours until 195IT, then see if the bone will pull loose, as a final test. FTC directly from the egg for a minimum 45 minutes for me. If you are done earlier than expected, butt will stay hot for at least 5 hrs (during FTC) from my experience.I have had them still hot enough to have to wear gloves when pulling the pork after 5 hrs FTC. I pull mine by hand....haven't graduated to claws, yet...sometime in the near future though !!!!DD

The only thing to watch out for is they may not both finish at the same time. Be prepared to FTC one.

I know I will have to FTC both of them, because its like a 45 minute drive for me to the location of the party.
