Hi all,
Been lurking since I got my large egg at the last dizzyfest. Will be at the one next month. First I want to thank everyone here who is willing to share their knowledge and expertise. It's invaluable for those of us starting out. My background is with gassers and your typical charcoal webers. I knew of BGEs but they were just always out of reach financially.
Now that I have one I've been cooking, reading this forum and getting accessories. I now have the r & b ar, the spider, the 13 inch ci grate, the maverick et-733, a thirdhand grate lifter, bags of rockwood lump and a heat gun. With everything now at hand I'm ready to do my first overnight pork butt tonight but will open another thread for that one.
This post I just wanted to thank everyone and post a few pics of past cooks. I need to work on the photo taking. The pork chops were cooked raised direct at 350 with dizzypig shaking the tree rub to a temp of 145. The pork tenderloins were tied together with twine, rubbed with Dijon mustard, sprinkled with dizzydust and wrapped in smoked bacon. Cook was raised direct at 375 with 2 applewood chunks. Cooked to temp of 140 and it hit 149 at rest. Both were amazing.
As mentioned, I'm going to be starting my first overnight cook in a few hours so will post a new thread soon.
Thanks all
~Doug
