Has anyone heard of a black and tan where you pour Guinness stout over bass ale to create a two level glass of beer and if you have tried it is it good.

It's decent. I used to drink them a lot before I got into craft beer... Not so much any more.

It's a classic. Not a good summer drink. More like a meal in a glass.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

The local brewpub (yes, we gotz brewpubs in utard) makes one with their own brews, they're fun and tasty.___________

Yes. Also called a half and half some places. There's a lot of debate about the name and what constitutes a B&T vs H&H.1 LBGE in Chapel Hill, NC

You are trying to start another war in Ireland by mixing Guinness and Bass in the same glass. It is supposed to be Guinness and one of the other Harp beers, like Harp Lager. Don't order it in Ireland, they will toss you out of the pub.Personal favourite is pouring Kilkenny and watching it cloud around the glass for a minute or two. It is light enough to be a summer beer as well.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

You need to pour the stout slowly over a spoon to keep them separated. I use Harp's and Murphys Stout.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Thanks @skiddymarker.Belleville, Michigan

Thanks @henapple that sounds like it may be a little cheaper than bass and guinness.Belleville, Michigan

I just like it better. Murphys isn't cheap but you probably won't drink 15 of them. They look like motor oil sitting on piss. They are tasty however.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Thanks @henapple, I am really am after quality rather than cheap.Belleville, Michigan

They make a turtle that helps you make the perfect black and tan.Aurora,OH

You can try it with smiticks instead of bass. Either way is good
-
This shouldn't be OT!
The only thing more important than the egg is the drink in hand! -
I love a good black and tan!But then again, I'm a big micro brew fan... rumor has it we have a couple of good micro breweries here in the Northwest

I used to drink them more, like someone else said, not really a summer beer. I have one of these to pour over, similar to a spoon.Large BGE, Mini BGEMorgantown, PA

Many stouts are actually light beers which is why they float on top of the "lighter lager"HFX NS

Thanks @ads75 that looks like a great tool, I am going to order one now.Belleville, Michigan

Don't order a B & T in Boston. Some people take offense to that name. Look up the Black and Tan Army for more detail. Once saw a bar tender in Southie coldcock someone for ordering one. It's a half and half here.Large Big Green Egg in a nest. North Shore of Boston.

Splash of Cholula...or 2
Lime
Salt the rim with a salt/Chipotle chili powder mix

Try Guinness over hard cider. Makes a decent change. BTW Guinness has less calories than a lot of "normal" beers.

I haven't had a black and tan in years, I used to drink black and blue - it's the same concept, but I think the other beer was a leineken (sp). It tasted like blueberry pancakes, not my bag anymore, but it used to get me drunk lol.
-
@Little Steven. Worcester is in Worcestershire
) BTW, the Brits just call it Wooster sauce.
