Newbie Here W/ Transporting Mini Question

Hey everyone! I want to introduce myself, my name is Matt, I am 30 years old, live in NY (about 50 minutes outside of Manhattan) and am married plus we have a beautiful 1 year old little girl. I really want to thank everyone for all of their input in providing by far the most amazing & most informational site out there, for me at least! After lurking for about a year, I figured it was about time to finally start being an active member because I can't get enough egg'ing! I currently own an XL, Large and a mini & will be trying to justify the minimax when that is released [-O< Fortunately the wife loves anything that comes off of the eggs so she is very supportive of my addiction! While my cooks are without a doubt elementary to you all, they are the most amazing thing to most that I cook for here and I will be sure to share some pics in the near future!
My first post here though is a mini question......This mini is the newest addition and I 100% agree with everyone that steaks from the mini are superior to all in my opinion at least. I bought the mini so I can take it with me traveling but I have one problem that the shortsighted me didn't think of......the thing is it obviously feels like a mini fireball for hours after a cook so I have no way of moving it!!! I have seen those egg crates on here and they look great but from my understanding, they are not in production. My father in law has a ton of tools and even a mill but he's always so busy in the summer to help me build much plus I am not the handiest guy in the world so do you guys know of anything out there to help me with my conundrum? I am also looking into bringing an extra mini with me to Italy to leave at my condo there but hopefully flying with one of those in September is a whole new thread.....Thanks again everyone!

I bought the rolling ice cooler $25 it fits in. I did a cookout and let it cool for over an hour before placing it in and it was still warm.
I have thought about packing a towel that maybe I get wet band place in the mini to quicken the cooling process, or some other method.
Good luck.Seattle, WA -

Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
The above is how I traveled for a couple of years before the "Egg Carten". As to cooling off sooner do like we do at Fests. Scoop out lump and leave open. Cools so much faster. Pulling out fire ring and fire box is even quicker.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). I have a new Mini with carrier and am looking for the best way to transport in the back of my SUV. Specifically, a way to keep it contained and any ashes contained.Mickey said:The above is how I traveled for a couple of years before the "Egg Carten". Still looking for ideas for a Mini with carrier. I don't think the Igloo Ice Cube Cooler will fit it.

How about my solution? The color of the hauler matches perfectly

This has never failed me, as long as the egg is cool. If you want seat protection, just place a cardboard box on bottom and a cardboard box on the back. If the egg is hot, you prolly don't wanna put it inside a closed car. Just strap it in the back of a truck.

When I do this, My Beautiful Wife complains about having to ride in the back of the truck. Occasionally, I really wonder if she understands.Dyal_SC said:This has never failed me, as long as the egg is cool. Seriously though, we have a MM, we travel with. I take out the shakeables, and wrap them in old towels. And place an old towel under the dome, pack all in with everything else to immobilize. I use a KAB, which helps for the cool down process prior to repacking."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Will any coolers or Action Packers fit the Mini with a carrier?
