OK, bad combination. Drinking and late night QVC. Thought this looked like a good idea for cooking bacon on the Egg. We will see what happens. http://www.qvc.com/CooksEssentials-16x12-Nonstick-Rectangle-BBQ-Grill-Pan.product.K40443.html?sc=K40443-User&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-1-_-K40443&catentryImage=http://images.qvc.com/is/image/k/43/k40443.001?$uslarge$

You're doing fine.  I've clawed my way out of bed after a night of drinking and on-line shopping to realize I just pulled the trigger on a $750 Festool rail saw.  But I really did need it.

    Vicarious buys.
Like the bacon cooker. I would probably use for veggies and fish. I will probably miss out on that buy. Let us know how you like it.
Up in the Georgia mountains phone is only link to the outside. Be cooking on Saturday and then going on serious diet on Monday.

Hoping you went with green.  Last time I shopped under the influence I wound up with 3 squatty pottys.   :-O

It's a great saw.  I upgraded from the smaller version.  I have a bunch of their tools, worth every penny.

I know the inventor of that. Pretty neat guy. His business is blowing up right now and just like 2 years ago he was building them in his parents garage.

Yes, I think other people would use a pan to catch the fat.  :D

Bacon fat dripping on burning lump may give a whole new meaning to "acrid smoke".

Long time eggheads may recall the days of Old Dave from Indiana who to this day is a egg legend and competition legend as well. One time he was egging many pounds of bacon at his home on his egg and the grease caught on fire and exploded - he was able to save his home, but there was severe damage to the exterior of his house. Bacon grease needs to be respected!

Hot fat is hot fat, whether it come from a pork shoulder, ham, duck, bacon or chuck steak, it's all flammable.

Bacon doesn't have to cook at nuclear temperatures.  When I'm cooking a large quantity of bacon, I cook it on racks and baking sheets in my oven around 300F.

You toy around the flashpoint of fat and you can get a self-feeding grease fire.  No reason to get that hot, even if you like your bacon crispy.  Time does the same thing as high heat.  Render the fat and dry off the water = crispy.

The best bacon cooker is the boxed timer in your kitchen.  Lay the bacon on a sheet pan, let the bacon fry in its own grease.  280-300 for about 30-45 minutes, flip halfway.

I once did bacon in a foil disposable pan. When removing the pan, it tilted and the melted fat went into the coals, causing one heck of a flare up, and ignighting the fat in the pan that was in my hands. Luckily I was wearing Ove Gloves, and was able to set the pan down and cover to extinguish. Closing the Egg took care of the flare up, and I was able to finish breakfast with no issues. Be careful out there.

Per the ad, 'The design allows fat to drain off toward the moat-like sides of the pan, helping to avoid food-charring flare-ups'. As long as the temp is ok to not light the fat in the pan, looks like it should work. I've done bacon on the Egg many times in disposable foil pans (see previous post) and the rigidity of this seems to be an advantage.
