Don't waste your time and effort! Go with SmokeWare!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

The dome or the ceramic cap? If its the cap and a clean break JB Weld should do the trick. Or order the Smokeware SS top.They/Them

You can use JB Weld to glue it back together.

Assuming you don't mean the dome, JB Weld will probably do. It just won't look very good. Heard lots of good reports on that stainless aftermarket cap though. SmokeWare? Maybe that's the name. Doubles as a DFMT.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Feel your pain...did that the first week I got my Egg.

Wonder what the BGE ceramic replacement costs? Although I'm kind of digging that Smokeware cap.

I would love to have the SS cap, but will have to brake my first so the wife will let me buy it.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

If you get the cap, most people (me included) recommend placing the gasket it comes with on the inside of the Smokeware cap, instead of directly on the BGE.sump411 said:Wonder what the BGE ceramic replacement costs? Mine is over a year old and I have never even ONCE used my cast iron daisey nor ceramic rain cap! Trust me the SmokeWare is the way to go let alone it is cool looking!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -

We'll then it's time to break it already!Ladeback69 said:I would love to have the SS cap, but will have to brake my first so the wife will let me buy it.

@RRP - Is the smokeware worth it if I'm already under a covered deck? I don't have the rain problem but I really hate the DFMT design.

I never even USE the DFMT. Except on lo n slo. Keep meaning to try one of those cooks without the DFMT, but haven't yet.I'll probably but a smokeware when I finally DO break my cap, It's either that or AL foil.

YES! The rain cap aspect part is nothing but added gravy for us in rainy, uncovered areas. Otherwise the SmokeWare stays in place - the setting never changes and when you close it down it snuffs the fire better than the ceramic cap assuming you put the gasket inside the SmokeWare to make it snug the dome. Then think of it this way too...instead of swapping out between the daisey and then rain cap you can pitch, store, or sell those two useless pieces so there is no storage issues as the SmokeWare goes on, stays on and that is it! Pretty simple solution IMO that BGE missed the boat and didn't buy the patent to to start with!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
Sweet! Sold.

So I take it that the SS Cap can be adjusted for low and slow? Does it work well on that?XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

I saw the Smokeware cap at a local BBQ place in Toronto, very impressed with the design and build quality. The price is also very reasonable, considering everything costs more in Canada, about $42 CAD + tax.canuckland

Absolutely it does. And snuffs out the lump with no issues also. The owner Mike is here in FL fairly local for me as he's in Jax Beach so I had the pleasure of meeting him and touring the business. Top notch product with excellent quality SS (goes real well with my new table :-) ).Ladeback69 said:So I take it that the SS Cap can be adjusted for low and slow? Does it work well on that?
Edit: once you dial it in it's good to go (opening the dome will not cause movement). Cooks over 350℉ I just pull the cap off. And it cleans up nicely. And again it's quality SS so it'll give you MANY years of use. FWIWLBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -
Thats what I'm interested in knowing. Is the ease of controlling the air flow just as good as the stock unit?nolaegghead said:@RRP - Is the smokeware worth it if I'm already under a covered deck? I don't have the rain problem but I really hate the DFMT design.
I'm under a covered patio, so I have no issue with the elements, but I'm interested in the cap none the less.

It sure does! All you are doing is turning the cap which exposes the 3 vent openings in a uniform manner. IOW what you see in one is the same opening for the two you can't see or have to strain to see. Low and Slow is just a matter of air intake and air outflow. If you want to go nuke like for a sear or a burn off and you don't want to bother removing the collar of the SmokeWare then just remove the top section which is the dome. It is all pretty simple, but works perfectly! Just keep in mind the dome piece gets really HOT even with a low and slow cook so wear gloves if you try to remove it. OTOH there is no need to remove it! Leave it in place! It replaces the daisy and the ceramic cap!Ladeback69 said:So I take it that the SS Cap can be adjusted for low and slow? The look is fine until you are in the middle of a brisky, butt or other low and slow and a torrential downpour storm occurs. The SmokeWare is just better suited for areas known for lots of unexpected rain. FWIWMaskedMarvel said:I personally appreciate the steampunk look of the DFMT.
