Had egg for two weeks and am grilling every chance I get! I know the Big Green Egg Charcoal is probably the way to go, but are there any other brands eggheads like to use?

Thanks! I might try the royal oak next since they make the big green egg charcoal anyway. Happy egging!

Most people on the forum don't use Big Green Egg charcoal. I'm a fan of Humphrey charcoal.Mark Annville, PA

I'm a fan of Humphrey charcoal.+1 in that very few use BGE lump, there are much better alternatives at considerably less price. Many threads here re BGE is actually made by Royal Oak.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

+1 on Royal Oak. I bought 3-4 bags of BGE brand when I first got my egg, however I quickly changed to RO. Big price difference v"I have great faith in fools; self-confidence my friends call it."RTR

Bge charcoal is only good if you like overpriced charcoal.

Rockwood and Ozark Oak. Not tried Wicked Good WW yet but heard that's good too!XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

Fogo and rockwood are working for me..I use the Fogo around the vents and then rockwood packed on top..I enjoy the clean burn of these two..Greensboro North Carolina

Love FOGO, hate RO...way too smokey for me.XL, JR, and more accessories than anyone would ever need near Olympia, WA

I just got some OO from Henapple and I'm looking forward to thoroughly checking it out. The best lump (IMHO) I've used is Maple Leaf from Canada. Burns nice with very few sparks or VOCs. Pretty much you're good to go when you reach your temp. Love that stuff!Flint, Michigan

I made the switch to Rockwood a while back. I am very happy with it.Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's

The Blue label WGWW that I have has a distinctly strong burning odor to it. I'm not nearly as big a fan as i was of the green label. I have a bag and a half to go and I'm going to try Royal Oak because it is readily available. here. I have used Cowboy Lump - I didn't care for it.

Thirteen plus years with Wicked Good Competition Blend after that Weekend Warrior. I still have an ample stash of the Competition Blend in the shed and use for my bigger low 'n' slow cooks.
I know just how Wicked Good is going to act when I light it. They have done an excellent job over the many years keeping the loads consistent.
Find one charcoal you like and stay with it and your end result will be much more consistent.
