Has anyone noticed?

Is it just me or is egged food always better the next day? Even a few hours after I cook it and reheat it tastes so much more flavorful.

Eating a reheated turkey burger now and its awesome....twice as good as when it first come off the egg:)

  • Funny you say this...I dont know if I would commit to always,  but in some pulled porks or pulled chickens, I have been a little dissapointed with the samples off the cutting board...but the reheat stuff knocks my socks off.

no way. especially not pork butt! that is NEVER better!

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Ok maybe not everything... pizza and butt probably not but chicken, chops and burgers I find much better if left for awhile. Attempting my second butt this w/e so ill have to take notes on the leftovers if there's any left, going turbo for this one.

  • Think it is because the cook is desensitized to the smoke, can't see the forest for the trees kinda thing. Next day, after the head has cleared it is like smelling it for the first time......

Guess this is why i'm the only one at the table that thinks the food is only ok sometimes.Ya put all the work into prepping and cooking it then you can barley taste it when you go to eat...its not fair!!!

I never reheat food. I eat leftover cold food all the time and you are correct, it is always better.

I'm with Mickey. There is nothing better than standing in front of the fridge and noshing on leftovers then taking a swig from whatever beverage vessel is at hand. Especially in your skivvies.

Then, go back upstairs and have SWMBO wondering why you smell like BBQ when she just wanted you to get her some coffee. Yes, you forgot the coffee.

I have found that turkey burgers and turkey lettuce wraps are always better the next day. I always mix the meat with the spices one day and cook the next. Much more flavor. ;;)

  • Yes agree. Especially pork (as if there were any way to improve on pork...). We love our re-heats around here!
When I'm not Eggin', I'm scootin'   Eggin' and 'cueing from Temecula Ca; an hour from San Diego, an hour and five minutes from Palm Springs, and an hour and a half from Los Angeles (yeah, right. With THAT traffic?)
  • I do not think it tastes better than the right off the egg, but compared to regular leftovers, yes they do definetly taste better.

In fact when I reheat a burger the next day in the"microwave" gasp, the smokey smell permeates the break room and has folks wanting my food.

  • Fat takes on flavor.  This is why when you're making ice cream, it's best to let the mixture sit overnight so the butter and milk fats can take on more of the flavor.  It's the same thing with any fatty meat, like pork butt.

I agree. Seems like the smoke has time to equalize through the meat. I also think there may be some truth to the desensitization theory.

It's beyond theory. Same reason cat ladies don't think their houses smell like cats.

Pulled pork made into a pizza is awesome.  Way better than the original stuff.
