Full Rack of Baby Backs on the MINI BGE!
...and they were awesome! I flipped and rotated them halfway through the cook, but I doubt I even needed to do that. They cooked evenly the entire time. Smoked them up with some Jack Daniels Whiskey Barrel Oak Chips. In order to fit them on the mini, I folded them into a circle and held them together with a bamboo skewer. I clipped the ends of the skewer in order to prevent them from burning. Here goes the pix...
It's amazing what this lil' smoker will do with just a handful of coals.

Is that a Woo ring with a pizza stone to make it indirect?

Yup, that's the mini woo ring with an 8.5 inch Old Stone Oven pizza stone, covered with foil. Surprised the baby backs fit with the raised grate from the woo, but they fit like a glove perfectly.

I am finding the same thing with the small. Maybe a mini is next for me.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

That roll o' ribs looks beautiful. Nicely done! what temp did you get the mini up to?#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Not too sure about the exact temp, @caliking ... I think it stayed around 300 deg f plus or minus... The dome thermometer was touching the ribs, even with the wine cork mod. So took that out and mostly judged them by "hunch" and feel.

Agree on the Mini for most of the action (have 2 Larges just looking on most of the cooks). Very nice cook and will do that next.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
Now I want to get a few racks and do this on my large; just because they look cool as hell cooked like that...
My BIL and nephew would flip if I put one of those down in front of them LOL

Very cool, Dyal. Was it worth it? Would you do it again or just fire up the large?

Thx, @Hic , but the rolled ribs is not my idea. Saw it a few years back on another forum. Been meaning to try it out, and it was the only way I could fit an entire rack on the mini.

Man ... every time i see one of these cooks I want a mini so bad. I think i'm going to compile the chicken cooks and the butt someone did and drop it on my wife's night table Christmas Wish List style.
-
@TonyA , here's a whole chicken I did awhile back on the Mini.
The Mini is also perfect for pizza too. Awesome little smoker.
My wife was iffy about me getting the Mini Egg at first too. But now that we have it, she understands. It's been awesome camping with it and taking it to the beach.

Thanks Dyal - I appreciate it!

Dyal when you crank up a chicken next time for the Mini spatchcock it. Use the Mini Woo and pull the stone. Direct at 400 works just fine.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.
