Ok, I'm dreaming of a small or medium to go with my XL. How long can you cook on a mini?XLBGE, Small BGE, Homebrew and GuitarsRochester, NY

When looking at the posts here, I'm reminded how I slip back into my mindset from when I was (mostly) using a gas grill. There, I needed to keep my food pretty much in the center area, so a lot of my grill space was off limits. Not so with an egg, as the pictures in this thread show so well :-).Raleigh, NC

How did you know when they passed the bend test?

Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
Sorry bout the late response! @Cookinbob , I've never done a low and slow on the mini, so I've never really tested it out. I would imagine several hours though. I had these ribs on at 300ish for a few hours. @Foghorn, I just eyeballed these for the most part. The bones were protruding, so I used that as the indicator.

On the other forum someone said about 3.5 hours. I've never tried it.Dan, Columbia,Mo.

It depends a lot on the density of the lump you use. My longest cook on my Mini was with the old Wicked Good lump and went 75 mins at 240-250 then 4 hrs at 300 (and could have gone another hour). If I went about 250 the whole time I'd estimate probably 7+ hrs. For a lighter lump like RO, my guess would be close to 6 hrs.XL, Large, Small, Mini Eggs, M&M BBQ Texas Smoke King, Shirley Fabrication 24x36 Patio, Humphrey's Weekender, Karubecue C-60, MAK 1-Star General, Hasty Bake Gourmet, Santa Maria Grill, Webers: 14" WSM, 22.5" OTG, 22.5" Kettle Premium, WGA Charcoal
