Biggest piece of lump you've seen?

Best of the West, about the size of a football.

Thread Throwback;  Bigger than a softball size lump found in the "old" 17.63# bag. Saving it for my next LnS.

just curious - why would you even use a piece that large without breaking it up first? 

Issue with big chunks.......just like a big hunk of meat, they're not going to be evenly cooked (or carbonized) all the way through.  I guess if you're in South America where you can slow burn whole logs and not have the EPA or DNR to deal with, it might be easier.  But there's no way it's going to be 80%+ carbon all the way through without breaking apart.  There's a reason the chunk is that big--there is wood fiber holding it together.
