Temp probe wires - anyone ever have any gasket problems because of them?

Perusing the pictures on this sight it seems that most people using temperature probes run the wires out between the dome and body of the Egg. Does this ever cause a problem with the gasket? I've heard that any air leaks in the gasket will cause the gasket to burn out with high temp cooks so do temp probe wires on low temp cooks cause the gasket to "dent" and not seal on high temp cooks?

You shouldn't use those probes if you're cooking at high temperatures.
Edit... sorry didn't read the whole post. What the whiz said.______________________________________________I love lamp.. -

Yeah, I was talking about a high heat cook following a low and slow where the probe was used on the low and slow. Glad to know it shouldn't cause gasket problems!

Would like to hear from anyone that has had problems with DigiQ temp probes separating. I recently purchased a replacement for one where the clip separated from the probe. Same thing happened to the new one. I did a JB Weld on the old one but have not tried it out yet.Any comments would be appreciated.gp

If your talking about the little alligator clip thingy it is pose to come off so you can replace it when the heat and gunk makes the spring fail

never heard that before... and that is exactly what I am talking about.. what is happening is the probe comes off the clip. Not sure how accurate the readings are with it off

They are an endless source for forum threads, being the one major consumable component of the egg.nolaegghead said:Doc_Eggerton said:What are gaskets?
Besides the food. I haven't tried the gasket yet. How does it taste? -
