Well, we moved into a new house last week and amazingly enough only one item was broken. The really really bad part was the broken item was the base of my large egg. I was devastated and nauseous at the same time. I thought it was a total loss but the fire box and rest of the egg were fine, just a large crack about 3" above the vent door. Then when I picked her up, the entire bottom fell off. Good news is my local dealer had a large base, which I picked up today. I should be able to get it put together tomorrow night and be cooking again this weekend. The best part was my wife asking what we were going to for Thanksgiving without the egg. Nothing can touch a Mad Max Turkey!
Thanks,
Mike

I think I'm going to JB Weld the bottom back on and use the broken base as an herb planter on the back deck. Thanks, Mike "Live in such a way that if anyone should speak badly of you, no one will believe it."

Well the base is glued back, now I just need to silicone the cracks. It was a pretty bad break, I was left with 5 pieces so it's not pretty, but she'll keep making contributions to egging! Thanks, Mike "Live in such a way that if anyone should speak badly of you, no one will believe it."

Or you could put a fire box in it and a woo 2 and it could be dedicated just for the wok.

Bury it halfway into the ground and make a nice firepit.

I thought about trying to save it, but after I took the hinge ring off it fell apart. To many big pieces to tray and actually hold a fire. (my egg sits on a two story wood deck' and my last deck had several holes burned through the deck without cracks in the base). Thanks, Mike "Live in such a way that if anyone should speak badly of you, no one will believe it." -
I was thinking about what I could do with my XL the other day and that's what I came up with. It just such a big hunk of clay, need to try to use it some how.
