Thanks to this forum, I was able to order WW from Ace online.  Here are the big pieces from the first bag.  Not a good pic but the largest is about 10 inches long.

Yeah, my first bag had some that looked like damn meteorites. I love the stuff. There is nothing better for low and slow cooks.

Get some Ozark Oak. Love the stuff. Ordered from this site and there were no issues and free shipping over $99

As has been said, big lump is easily turned into smaller lump, opposite not so.  And with regard to WGWW and Ozark Oak, I am currently burning through around 60#'s of WGWW and 40#'s of Ozark Oak.  I find the WW has bigger pieces, less ash, less smoke influence (smoke neutral) and my preferred low&slow lump.  Price here (Louisville area) about the same for both-FWIW-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

After 3 bags of WGWW, I'm going back to Ozark Oak as my staple lump. The WGWW was fine, but along with the massive peices, was a bunch of shake and dust. This was across all three bags.

Ive found nothing to be more consistant than Ozark Oak. Just my personal preference.

I just finished my first bag of WW and ordered more, so I have a total of 6 full bags in the garage now courtesy of Ace and their free site to store.  I LOVE this lump. Up till now I didn't see a big difference in the 5 different lump brands I tried, but this just lights faster and seems to burn at such an even rate I probably won't be looking anymore.

I just got two bags of WW. I finished one bag, and found the same large pieces of lump. I can't really say that it's worth the extra money over Royal Oak.....but I may be in the minority here. I think I prefer the smell of RO, and it seems to be ready to cook over a bit sooner than WW....but I didn't really time it.

Went through an initial order of a 100#'s, now just buying a couple of bags at a time.   As said above, if I really want to break up a large lump, couple of hits with the ash removal tool breaks it.   Large lumps are really good for the low and slow.

Significantly less ash is produced which has meant less stirring messing with leftover charcoal to get a fire going.

i use only wicked good now. i find i get less white smoke at start up, it might take a bit longer to get the dome to 350 than royal oak, but there is a lot less ash, (less clean outs) there is more leftover lump after shut down,  there is no goiong back, I ordered 6 bags lasst time from ACE with the free shipping to store,  and when I am down to one bag I will order another 6.

It wasn't so much as getting to temp quicker as it was being ready to cook over. To me, it seemed like the WW took longer to burn off the VOC's than royal oak does.

Another thing for me to consider is that with WW, I actually had to separate the pieces while building my fire. With RO, I just open the bag and dump it in the Egg. I've never had to separate into big and little pieces....and have never had an issue with getting my desired temps.

I got my two bags from my local Egg dealer....and I paid almost $27/bag. The same amount(22lbs) or Royal Oak is over $10 cheaper.

Again, I know I'm in the minority here....and I have another bag to burn yet. If I decide I like it....I may try and get it cheaper. Wicked Good isn't too far from me, and I may call them to see if I can buy some direct from them. Not sure if they do that or not?

$17.84 per bag for 8 bags with free shipping from Ace for WW.

Much cheaper than the BGE stuff - almost same price as the non-brazilian RO that Walmart carries.

RO 6.47+tax= 80cents/lb   WW+tax=89cents/lb.  Considering the fact that it burns much longer it is actually cheaper than RO since they downsized the bags from 10 lbs.  Even at 10 lbs. (71c/lb)considering the burn time it is probably no more expensive.

Like I mentioned above....I paid almost $27/bag from an Egg dealer. That's about $1.22/lb. And you're correct, I'm currently paying $0.80/lb for RO from Wally World.

I have one more bag to try, and If I decide that I like it, I may look into the Ace deal. Do you have to buy 8 to get that pricing?

I paid 17.99 they gave me a 10% discuout for buying multiple bags.  I believe that Ace's full retail price is 19.99.  They do run coupons for discounts so I will keep my eyes open for the 20% off coupons and stock up again.

I just paid $14.54 per 20# bag of Humphrey in a bulk buy. Big pieces across all bags. This is my second bulk buy of Humphrey. It is now my go to lump.

    BTW, that price included shipping.

I do like WW especially with low and slow cooking, but royal oak just hits the spot every time I use it and the price is hard to resist.

I had a 10% off $100 and 15% off $150...they accepted both in the shopping cart. So total was $152 and change including tax for 8 bags

That's still over $1/lb. which is significantly more than what most of us pay for WW.  I find them very similar, so price matters.  I would be interested in trying the Humphrey, but I'll have to burn off several hundred lbs. of WW and OO first.

I find it so interesting how we can get into the fine details of charcoal. Never heard of "smoke neutral" before BGE. Thanks for the insights you all.
