Call me anal. Got my second large egg 3 days ago and notice the grills are SS now, and it does not fit my fire ring as well as the other porcelain grill. The size of this thing is as such that if you adjust and I mean minutely adjust... you can get it centered on the ring. WTH.

great title for your post... lacking context, it really makes for an interesting read first thing in the morning.

Maybe it will fit better with some lube??

So far this week I've read about "Turbo Butt Success" and Anal. Not exactly what I thought I was getting into but hilarious none the less.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

That stinks.

Ok...all joking aside...haha...who has the new ss grill and what's your thought on them. I think I kinda miss the porcelain ones.2nd large Egg Nest

I did buy the new SS about 4 mnths ago, and never looked back!
To me, the porcelain is more of a maintenance issue, and I don't need that. I am perfectly with the SS, no issue with the fit on the BGE.

i got my SS grid from tjv (the ceramic grill store) and it fits perfectly.
porcelian doesn't last. the SS is an upgrade.
not sure the what the issue is with the diameter if it still fits on the fire ring. i would be happy BGE was shipping SS grids now
ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
My ring seems to fit fine. Not particularly tight, but I'm told that's good for a first-timer.
-
Ok...so ya'll seem to like the SS. I'm glad to hear that. I guess what I'm trying to say is is the darn thing or lip of the grill sit's typically off of one side if I don't set it just right. I'm wondering if I get a platesetter it's going to sit on it correctly?2nd large Egg Nest
-
if you cram it all the way to one side, are you saying one portion isn't sitting on the fire ring? or are you just twigged a bit because it isn't centered?
if #1, it still won't fall in. no worries
if #2, then yeah. that's a little anal-retentive (as opposed to just 'anal') )
ok ok.
re: platesetter. legs up, the grid should still fit on the platesetter if it sits on the fire ring. how big is the space?

I have the porcelian one. I will trade for your SS if you want.

I have the stainless, came with my egg. Fit's fine, gotta leave room for expansion and contraction. Something tells me after a few 650+ heat cycles that the porcelain would fail.
-
Well I appreciate the input that the SS grill is the better of the two. Is the rim of the grate supposed to slip over the outside of the fire ring or sit on top?2nd large Egg Nest
-
Sit on top.

Remember that you can always buy a cast iron grate for the Egg, as well. Cast Iron is all I use now.

Haha Cowdogs.
This thread deserved that... -
saw you changed the title. shouldn't it be "anal retentive". otherwise "anal" just means "of or like an a-hole", which is sorta my corner of the market
)ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
I did not change it...someone else did. That's because most of your minds are in the gutter. Did'nt even cross my mind.2nd large Egg Nest
-
Yeah evenwhenitrains...I will consider the cast iron one but I got to find out which of these is probably off sized...I'm trying to remember my old large egg and how the grill fit the fire ring. I just called the store I purchased it from and they noticed the same thing.2nd large Egg Nest
-
our minds aren't in the gutter. 'anal' means one thing.
and even "anal retentive" still refers to the anus. ) not sure how you don't know/see that, unless you think it magically only means means 'picky' when that's what you mean.
ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
Boy...you are all the ball haha...that's what I meant...and quite rightly...ya'll know that. Anal has alway,s meant picky. Do you all usually refer it in other ways in your conversations and do you use it commonly in your conversations? I don't see how you don't see that. Here for all...this came out of the dictionary...ya'll just choose to include the other definitions. • informal anal-retentive : he's anal about things like that.2nd large Egg Nest
