Rookie Question

Hello all,
I do have a true "rookie question". I have ahd my Big Green Egg for about 10 months, and love it to pieces.

I do a lot of grilling of whole chicken at about 350 degrees directly over the charcoal. It gives me the best-tasting, moistest chicken I have ever done. My question is; with this style of cooking, the interior of my BGE is pretty black from the cooking smoke. Is this the way it is supposed to be? If not, what suggestions would you have for cleaning the interior?

Thanks in advance,
John
