First, the thank yous:

Sparky, for making this home protection/beat-down stick (“The Persuader”) & sending it to Florida for me (I figured out it can also be used as a spatula :ohmy: :laugh: );

Eggindawg, for bringing it from Georgia and delivering it to me in Florida :) ;

Fidel, for taking it from Florida back to Georgia & shipping it to me in Pennsylvania (wouldn’t fit into my carry-on) ;) ; &

* you Georgia boys are a helluva great group of guys

Florida Grilling Girl, for inspiring the purchase of the mini stones with her kick-ass mini pizzas :P .

Thank you all, I broke it all in last night.

The toys:

Fist pie on the mini, went with Faith’s method, egg feet on the grid, stone on top:

The Persuader in action (you don’t even have to put your beer down :cheer: ):

Bottle of 4ara’s homemade dego red & dinner is served:

For the second pie, the stone was too hot :evil: , so ½ way through the cook I slid another stone on to prevent further crust cooking while the toppings finished:

    They sell them on Amazon, you get 2 in a box for about 25 bucks. The site said it was 1 to 3 months for delivery, so I found the same ones on Ebay (new), they were 3 bucks more, but I got them in a few days...

    loogidat....man you kill me.

    Pies look good. Glad to see the equalizer made it across state lines without raising too many eyebrows.

    I swear the handle on that spatula is as big as your thigh.

    wow they look great but i am bummed out... i picked up two 8 inch screens on saturday and the two stones arrived today and one was broken..
    what temp did you use?? i got 3 nagasaki [as ben calls them] sprouted .

    bill, the screens work great in conjunction with the stones, Eggindawg was flyin with the screens, where did you get the screens?

    I went with 550, but it was too hot, coals are too close to the stone, I have to ask FGG her exact method, I know she only uses 1 stone so it must be at a much lower temp...

    Chocolate covered nagasakis anyone?

    8 & 1/2 inches. Just small enough that they leave enough room around the edges so you don't completely toast your gasket (like you will with a pie tin I have learned :( )

  • Hey Marc,

    Looks like some great pizza to me! I'm glad you finally got to use the stones. I can't take all the credit, I heard about them from someone else on this forum, just can't remember who! They were not using them in the mini for pizzas though.

    You got the correct setup but I have started to cook them on lower temp, especially if making many of them in a row. (I did 8 one night!) If you have anyone that likes thick crust, it will take a little longer on a lower temp. If you like it super thin and crispy, then higher and shorter. You just have to play around with it til you get what your family likes. I think you are well on your way!

    Have fun with the mini pizzas!

    Nice set up there Zippy....When Tom gets his new improved mini woo out on the market you will have an even better set up...I cooked my pizzas on the mini in Ocala at about 400 degrees...and great looking tongs... :P
  • I think the temp is somewhere around 400 degrees to answer your question.

    did you use 1 or 2 stones on that set-up?

  • I only use 1 stone. That was a good idea putting the 2nd stone on there to control the heat so your crust did not fry. I have tried this set up as well:

    CIMG3278.jpg

    This way, it took forever for the egg to come up to temperature. After trying every different combination of heat and stone placement and timing, I have settled on the lower temp and only one stone.

    Just trial and error, but fun anyway!

    Kim, with the 2 stones in there, what temp did you use? And, did you have any trouble with maintaining the heat with both stones & the pizzas? Finally, did you have to re-load the lump during the cook... how many pies did you get done on one load in there? Thanks, Marc

    Your smile tells the whole story.You look like a proud new papa of a Mini Egg and are having a blast with it.The next toy that you need to buy will have to be a mini pizza peel.That pie looks lost on such a large peel.Continue to have fun with your "TOYS."
