Where do you get your oxtail?

At the restaurant. 

Have never made it at home, but given I’ve never seen it in a run of the mill grocery store, I’m guessing a good butcher will be your best bet.

@RajunCajun - I've bought from Hannah ever since she was in college and did parking lot deals, never been disappointed.

*edit to add: She once did a special order deal for beef plate ribs, those were ok but disappointing.  They had a odd fat layer in the middle that never rendered.  The short ribs on her site are fine.

Call your local butcher, like where they butcher actual cows. I am sure they will have one.

Thanks.  For me that would be the butcher that I bought a whole hog's head from.

We brought a steer in and when I asked where the oxtail is he came back with two… so lol
