OT - French Press? What’s YOUR Coffee? - OT

Greetings friends,
I can’t survive without coffee. On the list of “would you rather give up..” coffee usually wins.
I can’t survive without coffee. On the list of “would you rather give up..” coffee usually wins.
And the journey for a rich cup at the house has been frenetic. Seems like we make a giant leap, then stagnate for a few years.. usually this coincides with a favorite local roaster shuttering the business.
So - I’m back on the French Press. And, with the new scale needing to get broken in properly, I did what ANY middle aged American fueled by the bean would do..
I ChatGTPed how to make the best FP!

Results are in: I’m switching to the “James Hoffman” process, with a “break the crust” method with a de-gas swirl. It’s vastly superior for what I’m seeking. Only issue is it requires 65 grams of coffee beans, and we do two FP a day. That’s about two pounds of coffee beans a week, for those who are good at conversions.
… might need to buy an espresso machine….
ANYWAY - as I’m just now tweaking this method, I figured I’d pitch it to the most knowledgeable and well-caffeinated group on the Internet. But, since the Britney Spears Fan Forum is occupied with other topics right now, I bring it to you all, here.

What’s YOUR favorite coffee method? I’m talking drip, pour over, etc? Yeah yeah - I KNOW espresso is the logical conclusion. I just want to be able to drink coffee most of the day, not blow my wad on the first two shots.
Also - if anyone’s interested - I have a recommendation for, EASILY, the best coffee “thermos” that we’ve found. No leaks, locking lid, and keeps it so hot ALL DAY that I pour it into a cup in the late afternoon just to be able to drink it.
Bottoms up! Enjoy that cup!

Last winter I watched a video on how a moka pot works, bought one, and experimented a bit. Was more fussy than it was worth; then EweTube fed me some videos on Aeropresses, and I used one for a cup every morning.
This winter, I haven't made a single cup. Just not a coffee drinker, but you did inspire me to make a cup of tea.

My caffeine of choice is Harney & Sons cinnamon tea. Coffee is probably my favorite aroma in the world, but I can't stand the taste. I tried all the foofoo creamers but they didn't help. I don't even like coffee ice cream.Because of this I was seen as an abnormality being a Navy Chief who didn't like coffee.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

Long time Aeropress user here, last Christmas I got 'pressured' into buying a fully automatic bean-to-cup Delonghi. Still use the Aeropress occasionally for preground or oily beans.canuckland

one change that worked for me in the last few years— combine dark roast and decaf grounds 50/50. lets me have a bigger or more servings, lighter breakfasts, etc.
the best large microwaveable travel mug i have found is the wawa 20oz. $5. -
Funny you should say that. I grew up on exactly that approach - half espresso and half dark roast decaf. Coffee so strong you could almost stand a spoon in it.Buckwoody Egger said:one change that worked for me in the last few years— combine dark roast and decaf grounds 50/50. lets me have a bigger or more servings, lighter breakfasts, etc.
