Out with the Old, in with the new

Ive had this XL for about 8 years- came to me w a broken base, a new base and no warranty.  Along the way I was able to get a replacement base when that one cracked but alas it cracked again and I was done trying to mess with it so I just bought a new one and move components.  Turns out when we started disassembling the fire ring was also cracked so the decision to go all new over just a new base was an even better choice.

**As I was loading these pics- along the way I bought a rEGGULATOR cap and the insert to make it more rain proof.   In this thread I noted the problems I had with it, so now I have a new one that I checked didnt have that problem.**

My well used friend moved out of the way

Got her set up too late last night for her maiden cook, that will be tonight.

All Shiny on the old Nest

I havent decided if Im going to keep some of it around for parts, give it away or see if I can get a few $$ by selling it.

Forgot to get a pic of the first cook but it wasnt the easiest.  Fighting to keep the egg under 350 (for a seasoning cook), I had the bottom and top cranked down like I was doing a brisket.  Strip steak wouldnt char and per the wife came out raw (even though temp said 145).  Anyway the next morning I had a thought.... 💡I bet that thermo isnt dialed it... and yep it was off ~100 degrees.   Fixed that and all was good.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting.  The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president.
