I noticed this on my rEGGULATOR on my brisket cook

So... I started with a Daisy Wheel, but when the rEGGULATOR came out I bought it with the rain cap.
But I rarely use it as I only do maybe 3 lower temp cooks a year, But I got a blower attachment (which thanks forum for helping me to understand it) and use the cap a bit more now.

Well Saturday I was doing a brisket- holding at 235 (dome) perfectly for 5 hrs when it started creeping up.  Looked down and thought this is pretty well closed so I went to take the side view and lo and behold

The dang slider clearly doesnt have a matching surface.

So to finish the cook I just ran it like this- worked fine.

But now it make sense why the egg takes so long to burn out/ cool down when I use this thing.  Even had it relight the next day once when I opened it.

Anyway- do I just have a bad one or is this the norm?

Not norm ... mine definitely is air tight. Isn't there supposed to be a gasket in between the two ... I'll have to check mine??

I figured... It drags on the one side like it should so I never really looked at it as I just assumed all good.

Never have seen that issue personally. Maybe the screw it’s too tight or a washer missing? Weird.
