Restaurant recommendations in San Antonio

Greetings! I am traveling to San Antonio early next week for a conference and my wife will be joining me later for a little long weekend. We will be staying at the Riverfront and looking for great places to eat in walking distance or short uber. Brisket is on the top of the list, but also looking for local favorites and can’t miss spots. I appreciate any advice and will report back on what we sampled.

    Paging @Foghorn.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Boudro's on the Riverwalk.  You may already be too late to get a reservation.

2M Smokehouse.  It's a drive but reportedly worth it (I haven't made it there yet because I'm always working and they run out of brisket...)

If you must eat Mexican food on the Riverwalk, go to Acenar.  It's hip and upscale and I don't think of it as eating Mexican - but it's good food that is Mexicanish.

Otherwise, don't eat Mexican food on the Riverwalk.  Go to the Mexican Market to Mi Tierra or La Margarita - or just across the highway to Pico de Gallo.  Or La Fonda on Main or anywhere but the Riverwalk for Mexican food.

Tokyo Cowboy is our new favorite near the Riverwalk.  Texas/Asian fusion with a tiki bar down below on the river level.  We are going tomorrow night before a show.

    Biga is good but pricey.

One thing we like to do with visitors is to get a drink at the bar at the Menger Hotel.  It is where Teddy Roosevelt signed up volunteers to be part of the Rough Riders.  They have some Teddy Roosevelt memorabilia there and some other historical things on the walls/halls near the bar.  The bar and drinks aren't otherwise memorable but we like to stop by there for a drink.  I would particularly avoid their margarita.

Leche de Tigre and Pharm Table are both excellent and not far from the Riverwalk.

    I hope that helps.

I have heard good things, but I have not made it there yet.
