Cooking two pizzas in the Egg.....

I've got the pizza wedges, the Xpander system and two stones. At the moment I've been cooking two pizzas at the same time, but I'm finding the pizza on the top 'shelf' is not cooking nearly as well/quickly etc as the one below. I'm also wondering if when I open the egg very quickly to put the top pizza on, am I losing all the heat I've spent an hour building up?
Am I better to just cook one at a time on the lower level and give up on the idea of two pizzas at the same time?

    Cook one at a time.

I have cooked 2 at a time with extreme success. I do not use the wedges. I use the plate setter basket with the platesetter legs up, the SS grill on that and a stone. then the multi level rack and another stone on that. works great.

but I also have found that if I cook one at a time, the time to eat the first one matches the time to cook the second. So that works too.

i get given so much food and treats for Christmas that by the time I finish them all it will be Easter and I will have the same shape as an egg. Rather fitting I think.
  • there is a setup called the roswell rig for double decker pizza cooks that predates the Xpander and the wedges. you might have some luck researching that for some old posts on how those cooks went. those would have been lid lifting cooks.

the pizza porta also had a two level setup capability where the height of the opening was big enough to allow access to both levels without lifting the lid.
