Grill temperature controllers

Options
I know this has been discussed before but wondering if anyone has tried the Pro Temp. It keeps popping up in my Facebook feed.Looking to buy my 1st one and leaning towards a Digi Q.
Any options are welcome
Thanks in advance

SmoBot or Flameboss get my vote - I know nothing about ProTemp.

Don't tell your problems to people.  80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.

  • I am rather impressed with my ThermoWorks Billows.  Seems to work well, but it is the only one I have used.

Make sure that the controller you buy works offline. Seems like controllers crash every Thanksgiving Day due to overloaded servers.

And, if you have my luck, I've never been able to connect any of my controllers (and I've been thru a few) to my WIFI.  I've connected my desktop, laptop, phone, TV and tablet easily, and my Roku box when I had it, but none of my grill controllers ever connected (nor did my 'spensive HVAC system two years ago, and the techs worked with it for over an hour and finally gave up, so (I hope) it's not just me).

Im sure you tried , but FB and most controllers prefer the 2.4 ghz much like WiFi Thermostats

Yes; my thingie with the six Imposing Antenna Blades supposedly does both, but if there's a secret I haven't figured it out yet (nor have the pros).
And after 5, 6 years, I don't want to try anymore.

actually the ones that do both are worse, you have to get in the settings and split them to two separate constant 2.4 and 5 bands.

    It’s very annoying

my cyberQ from bbq gurus is solid. But it’s older technology and the same as Botch, it’s very annoying to set up port forwarding to be able to see and control from outside the house.

Humbly… I’ve got the experience I’m fine without it. But it is annoying I’m not using its full potential. Anyway. I leave the house all the time and just know what the expectations are.

cant see spending the money to upgrade for myself.

But the newer ones, id get one that has an app interface and go with that.
