While at home for lunch I found a magnet. The magnet does not stick to the new basket. It also does not stick to the mini KAB purchased in December. It does stick to my severely worn KAB in the large and the old one for the small.
I’m pretty sure the original ones were not stainless. The original basket for my medium lasted maybe a couple of years. The replacement basket was advertised as stainless and it’s been going strong for probably 8-9 years of hard use with hot cooks.
Correct, the first few generations of the KAB were a coated steel and would come apart after a few years depending how many times you got them really hot.  Switching to stainless raised the price, but it also allowed them to give a long life span and warranty.

There's something wrong with the magnet

Reminds me of an old doctor joke...

"Doctor, when I touch my foot... I feel pain. When I touch my arm... I feel pain. When I touch my chest... I feel pain".

Doctor - "I'm going to order an x-ray of your hand. I think you have a broken finger".
    😂

I repurposed my 1st generation LBGE KAB as a starlink antenna to allow control from the cloud of my beta design caveman steak finisher.

This is way better than a foil hat!

PRO tip: next time don't use Teflonized foil that slipped off, it's Friday 😂
