Creating the fire for paella, stir fry, caveman and more-

For what it's worth: (apologies to all who know but I'm seeking out new members).
If you want a truly hot bed of lump for a high heat cook below is a photo followed by the method to achieve: (you may wonder why just a fire photo-it was a simple steak cook and the $$ shot was not worthy!):
Here you go-

So-light your BGE in your normal fashion (dome open) for a high temp cook. Once a good bed of coals are lit, (dome open the entire time) shut the lower vent and watch the magic. The air will flow into the BGE and juice the fire. (Edit: SBGE)
You can shut the dome in the advanced stages of a paella cook but otherwise just have at it.
I'm sure there are other approaches but this has always worked for me.

Learned me something. I don't always get the bed of ripping hot coals on top, so this helps.
I know you've posted this method before, but I don't always pay attention where I should

I'm an old timer, and I have never done this. So, THANKS, I will give it a try.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
