    Here's today's dump:

Two dozen Democrat-led states and cities yesterday filed lawsuits alleging that Trump’s bid to end birthright citizenship for children born to parents who are not lawfully present in the U.S. or hold a temporary visa is unconstitutional. Devan Cole, Kara Scannell, Priscilla Alvarez, and Tierney Sneed report for CNN

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials can now raid churches and schools to arrest undocumented immigrants, after the Trump administration scrapped a policy protecting sensitive spaces. April Rubin reports for Axios.

The Trump administration yesterday ordered all federal DEI employees to be placed on paid leave and all DEI websites and social media accounts to be removed by the end of today. Ashleigh Fields reports for the Hill.

Trump has sidelined at least 20 senior career DOJ officials while also shaking up key U.S. attorney offices in New York and Washington, D.C., sources say. Hannah Rabinowitz, Evan Perez, and Kara Scannell report for CNN.

Then-staffers of Trump’s National Intelligence Director pick, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, scrambled to contain political fallout from a “supposedly unplanned” three-hour meeting with Syria’s deposed dictator Bashar al-Assad in 2017, files uncovered by the Washington Post show. Jon Swaine and Ellen Nakashima report.

The former sister-in-law of Trump’s Defense Secretary nominee, Pete Hegseth, yesterday submitted an affidavit to senators accusing Hegseth of “abusive” behaviour toward his second wife. Hegseth denies the claims. Julie Tsirkin, Sarah Fitzpatrick, and Courtney Kube report for NBC News; Karoun Demirjian and Sharon LaFraniere report for the New York Times.

Federal health agencies must pause all external communications pending a Trump administration review, according to current and former officials. The planned duration of the pause is unclear. Lena H. Sun, Dan Diamond, and Rachel Roubein report for the Washington Post.

Trump yesterday announced the creation of a $100bn joint venture between OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle and the UAE state-backed company investor MGX to boost the U.S. AI sector. Sareen Habeshian reports for Axios.

^^^ One missing from your list: the Spanish version of https://whitehouse.gov was taken down today, according to one news source.  I haven't poked around that website in over 4 years, so I can't confirm/deny they even had a Spanish version before.  But it does sound par for the course.

Thursday's summary of the clown show:

The Justice Department yesterday ordered an immediate halt to all new civil rights cases or investigations and indicated it may back out of Biden-era police department monitoring agreements, two internal memos reviewed by the New York Times show. Glenn Thrush reports.

The Trump White House yesterday told three Democratic members of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board to resign or be fired, sources say. If successful, the move would paralyze the bipartisan watchdog agency that investigates national security surveillance activities that can intrude on individual rights. Charlie Savage reports for the New York Times. [Editor’s note: readers may be interested in Andrew Weissmann’s analysis of the move.]

A link to the Weissmann article here: https://www.justsecurity.org/106738/trump-privacy-oversight-board-surveillance/.

Trump on Tuesday revoked a decades-old executive order banning discrimination in federal contracting, the White House said in a memorandum yesterday. Dareh Gregorian reports for NBC News.

Zeke Miller and Aamer Madhani report for AP News; Ellen Nakashima and John Hudson report for the Washington Post.

President Trump’s acting agency chiefs yesterday called on government employees to report anyone continuing to do diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work in defiance of a Trump executive order, threatening “adverse consequences” against those who do. Brittany Gibson and Marc Caputo report for Axios.

Trump is preparing to send around 10,000 troops to the U.S. southern border to assist Border Patrol in implementing orders to shut off asylum access, according to a briefing document seen by the Washington Post. The order directs border agents to block entry on grounds that migrants have passed through countries where communicable diseases are present. Nick Miroff, Dan Lamothe, Maria Sacchetti, and Marianne LeVine report. [Editor’s note: Readers may be interested in Mark Nevitt’s analysis of the declaration of a national emergency on the southern border.]

The Justice Department on Tuesday directed federal prosecutors to investigate and potentially bring criminal charges against officials who do not cooperate with Trump’s mass deportation plans, document obtained by the Washington Post shows. Maria Sacchetti and Jeremy Roebuck report.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will refer to foreign nationals as “aliens” following an order from the agency’s leadership, according to an internal memo obtained by Axios. Stef W. Kight reports."

Well, perhaps the Jan. 6 committee should not have destroyed all the evidence.
It seems strange that you use the word “destroyed” when the evidence is still publicly accessible.  I do not think that word means what you think it means.

    • the Jan 6 committee destroyed evidence.
    • the Jan 6 committee did not allow any witness testimony of those charged.
    • the Jan 6 committee were all preemptively pardoned (guilty of something)
    • a proven FACT that Liz Cheney witness tampered.
But, that’s seems good enough to throw all of them in jail to rot I suppose…..

    Today's clown show summary:

"The White House budget office yesterday paused all federal grants, loans, and other “financial assistance” until at least mid-February, according to a memosent to government agencies, which left the scope of the affected institutions unclear. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the move “blatantly disobeys the law” in light of the Congress’ allocation of the funding. Chris Cameron reports for the New York Times.

Acting Attorney General James McHenry yesterday fired more than a dozen officials who worked on Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigations into President Trump, citing a lack of trust that the officials will “assist in faithfully implementing the President’s agenda.” Perry Stein reports for the Washington Post

The U.S. Attorney for Washington D.C., Ed Martin, has opened an internal investigation into the DOJ’s use of an obstruction law to prosecute Jan. 6 Capitol attack rioters, saying its use was a “great failure” of the office, according to an email obtained by the New York Times. Alan Feuer and Eileen Sullivan report.

The State Department staff should observe the “spirit” of the Trump administration’s rollbacks of diversity initiatives in its public messaging, according to a directive that will likely prohibit the agency from openly observing Black History Month. Alexander Ward reports for the Wall Street Journal.

Trump yesterday fired all three Democrats on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, bringing the board’s work to a standstill. Rebecca Beitsch reports for the Hill

Trump yesterday issued an executive order calling for the Pentagon to adopt updated policies on the medical standards required for military service, citing the U.S. military’s “afflict[ion] with radical gender ideology to appease activists.” Dan Lamothe, Missy Ryan, and Alex Horton report for the Washington Post

Trump’s firing of Inspectors General raises “an existential threat with respect to the primary independent oversight function,” Mark Grenblatt, the former Inspector General of the Interior Department, said yesterday. Charlie Savage reports for the New York Times."

Good to see the big ticket items being dealt with early, like the name of part of the Atlantic Ocean and a mountain.   Hope that real estate deal for Greenland gets done, because that's been on everyone's mind too.  What's left? Afetrall Ukraine was sorted within a day of inauguration, as promised.
