I swear every doctor has their own prep regimen and the differences can be significant.
As you well know the mission of the prep is to be so onerous that the procedure is seen as the good deal.
    Good luck.

This is where a bidet pays for itself.

How about my story. About a month ago I was scheduled for my colonoscopy. I did the prep cleansing. Took a vacation day as did my wife. Got stripped down and onto the bed then the fun began, they couldn’t find a decent vein to get the IV in, they had 3 nurses try plus the anesthesiologist. No luck!! They said my option was no anesthetic… Whoa… No way.
I left looking like a pin cushion with plasters down both arms.
So we are looking at other options😳

that was my first one about 35 years ago. they were looking for a gut pain i had at the time and needed me wide awake and talking. so the video was the best part. about 8 months later the original pain went away.......

    That sounds ruff, @fishlessman

Believe it or not, there is a significant body of literature about bowel preps, but yeah, everyone seems to do it differently.

For kids, we use a much gentler prep (body weight-based dose of MiraLAX +/- 1 Dulcolax depending on age) taken over 2 days, and clear liquid diet the day before the procedure. Gets the job done, and even young kids tolerate it pretty well.

For the folks who have had difficulty with IV placement because their veins are hiding, get a squeezy ball kind of hand toy, and work with it for a few weeks before your procedure. Many places have an ultrasound-guided vein finder kind of thing, that is also used to facilitate venipuncture/IV placement.

Hope your procedure goes well, fish, and that the results are boring.
