CGS stuff to bring back to the UK

We're heading to Yellowstone in September, and the good folks at CGS can once again ship stuff to the hotel we're staying at to transport back to this side of the pond. Last time we were here I got the Woo and extender for the large and spiders for the MMX and Large. This time around I'm considering getting the following items:

- Kick ash can for the MMX and Large. Should make clearing the ash easier.
- Divider for the Large. Mainly to make banking coals for rotisserie cooking easier.
- CGS Woo for the MMX. It looks cool.

For the Woo, probably going for the no handle option unless having the handles is really important. I read somewhere here that the Woo can be turned upside down for more options for cooking and the handles get in the way.

Anything else that folks recommend from CGS? Whilst I would really like to bring back the Large rig, we're limited on suitcase space. And I suspect the half moon planchas may not make it back in one piece.

  • I am a Canadian and almost did the same while staying at a neighbour’s house in Orlando. I was super tempted to get the adjustable rig, but just got Smokeware’s two-tiered grate instead. I love my purchase, but still sometimes regret not having gotten the CGS offering.

Jealous of your trip to Yellowstone. Going to have to make it there myself before too long.

My assumption is that you have Kick Ash Baskets for both since you're considering the Cans?

I highly recommend the kiln spacers. You might be able to buy them locally in the UK. I’d recommend getting several sizes.

No handles on Large AR or MMX Woo.  Handles would be easier.

Thanks for the advice folks, looks like handles is the way to go.

@GrateEggspectations I am rethinking the AR, if CGS can sell it without the ceramics I could go for it. I'll contact them. Also FWIW Yellowstone is truly amazing, this will be our fifth trip (first since COVID). There are many pictures in this set of threads from our 2017 road trip. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

@WeberWho yep I already have the KABs.

@DoubleEgger didn't even know they sold those, so yes, that's happening. I think they will be safe on the plane on the way home without breaking, could even fit in hand luggage. The airline we are using allows hand luggage to weigh the same as hold luggage 23kg / 50lb.

Handles for me!  I have a woo without and one with.  Handles are epically handy.

I'm also doing an order with Dizzy Pig BBQ ... and found out they have a glaze sauce! So that's being ordered for delivery to the hotel, along with a bunch of rubs.

    Sure thing!

The Kick Ash Can and Divider for the Large are solid choices. And the CGS Woo for the MMX is a cool addition too.

If you like direct grilling, the CGS Griddle is a great option. But if you're limited on suitcase space, stick to the essentials.

    Have a blast in Yellowstone!

Just curious does the UK and Canadian customs simply look the other way at what you carry back? I have heard from GWN gasket buyers who have to pay duties on single gasket purchases. The worst story was one province where the postmaster didn’t believe what I had disclosed on the customs form so he opened the box and then charged my buyer $5 for opening the box!

@RRP it's a good question. We're allowed to bring in £135 of goods each without needing to declare for tax purposes. As there are two of us travelling that's around $340 of goods. So we're good.

Take the tags of your Rolex and ship the empty box.
