Double Bourbon Smoked Oysters 🥃🦪🥃

I normally like my oysters raw on the half shell with some tasty mignonette…but occasionally it’s fun to get ‘em on the fire too.

The “double” bourbon is Barrel Proof Bourbon Barrel blocks and a little Rabbit Hole bourbon drizzled in with the liquor.

Some compound butter (parsley, thyme and SPG), and a finish of grated Romano, these oysters were a tasty Saturday lunch!

Btw…if the MiniMax isn’t the perfect cooker for something like this. I don’t know what is!

  • Beautiful. Those definitely look ready for devouring. The kids tried raw oysters for the first time last weekend, but my daughter was later dismayed to learn they were live. Maybe this is a good alternative.

The oysters wren't live by the time she enjoyed.
@cmac610- Love chargrilled oysters.  I approximate the Drago's process.  Will have to spirit 'em up next round!  Those look great.

You sure?  I have an app that allows me to hear oysters screaming while being sliced from their top shell, and their bottom shell; hadn't really listened to them as they were being doused/slurped...

A key is the high heat chargrilling as evidenced in the opening pic.  Always a winner.

Yeah…they will tend to get rubbery when cooked too slow or too long. A nice hot fire and just enough time to warm them up and melt cheese is all you need…and will still give a nice char fire experience!
