Way OT Pool Cleaners

I figured this is the best place to ask for opinions. For everyone that has a pool, what kind of cleaner/sweep does everyone use? We have a sand filter and have used a hayward suction sweeper and we seem to go through them pretty quick, probably because our bottom is so rough. (whole other topic) I am looking into a robotic cleaner and was wondering if any of you fine folks had any experience with them and if so pros/cons. Thanks in advance.

The corded one was great when working correctly. The cordless one is not doing as great of a job as I would have hoped. I run a robot every night for about 6 months. It seems I am buying a new one every year to year and a half.Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

@kl8ton this is what we have used forever. It just seems like they aren't lasting as long and we have to replace it every 2 years or so. Even after we have them "repaired."

@RRP - Poolman Pat is alive and well and still working pools on East coast of FL. Just spoke to him the other day. @FlaPoolman - chime in since I know you know a good answer for pool cleaners.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. I have a polaris 360 pressure side cleaner that runs without a booster pump. with a variable speed pump I can get it working really well. It does OK until there is a lot of debris in the pool.
I had a robot and it lasted a year or so.
I think alot depends on your pool, the debris, etc.

I used a Hayward PoolVac for 20 years. Not the same one but always used a Hayward. Just replace the feet and side sweeps when needed. Parts are easy to find...
